The quick answer
Landing pages on a SuiteCommerce site are built in Site Management Tools (SMT), not on a NetSuite form. Open your storefront, press Escape to open SMT, and go to Overview > Pages > New Page. Enter a Name (Heading and Path fill in from it), set the page Title on the Metadata tab, and save. SMT opens the empty page in Edit mode, where you drag content such as CMS IMAGE and CMS TEXT into the areas marked This Page. New pages, content, and edits stay unpublished until you open Review & Publish Changes, select the page and all of its content rows, and click Publish.
The screenshots show sample data. Person and company names are fictional. Use your own site, path, and content when following the steps.
Before you start
In this example, Larkspur Industrial Supply runs a SuiteCommerce web store called Larkspur Supply on the domain shop.larkspur.example. The marketing team wants a Trade Accounts page at /trade-accounts. The person doing the work signs in with the Administrator role.
You need Site Management Tools turned on for the website, and a NetSuite user whose role has Site Management Tools permissions. The recording shows the storefront and SMT without a browser address bar, so the steps name each address in the text.
The labels, content types, layouts, and image picker below match the SMT release in the recording. Other SMT versions, themes, and extensions can show different names or options, so check them against your own site.
01. Confirm Site Management Tools is on
SMT is turned on per website in SuiteCommerce Configuration. In NetSuite, go to Commerce > Websites > Configuration. In Select Website choose Larkspur Supply. Select Domain shows shop.larkspur.example (Primary). Click Configure.
Open the Integrations tab, then the Site Management Tools subtab. Use Site Management Tools is checked, and Disable ESC Key To Login is clear, so pressing Escape on the storefront opens the editor. Nothing needs to change here. Save the configuration only if you change one of these settings.
Disable ESC Key To Login only controls the keyboard shortcut. You still have to sign in with a NetSuite user whose role has SMT permissions, so leaving the shortcut on doesn't let shoppers into the editor.
02. Open Site Management Tools on the storefront
On the storefront, open /trade-accounts, the address the new page should use. It says Page not found, because no page has that path yet.
Press Escape. SMT opens in View mode on the same address, with /trade-accounts at the left of its dark bar. If you aren't signed in, sign in with your NetSuite user first. The toolbar at the top has four buttons, from left to right: Overview, View, Edit, and Review & Publish Changes.
03. Create the landing page
Click Overview, then the Pages tab. It lists the home page (/) and one landing page, Shipping Information. Click New Page.
Landing Page Settings opens on the General tab, with Visibility set to Always Visible. In Name, enter Trade Accounts. Heading fills with Trade Accounts and Path with /trade-accounts. Name is the page's internal name. Path is case-sensitive and has to be unique. It also shouldn't clash with an existing category or other storefront address, so check it before you save.
Open the Metadata tab. In Title, enter Trade Accounts | Larkspur Supply. In Meta Description, enter a sentence for search engines; here it's "Open a trade account for volume pricing and net 30 terms." Title is the page's HTML title. In the base theme used here, the breadcrumb shows it too, but that depends on the theme. The Layout tab picks the page layout, which decides which content areas the page has. The Advanced tab can add code to the page head.
Click Save. SMT opens /trade-accounts in Edit mode, with the store header, the breadcrumb, and empty content areas. You don't have to publish the page before adding content to it.
04. Add an image
Click Add Content (the + button). The panel on the right lists the content types. Each content area on the page shows its scope. All Pages areas repeat on every page of the site. cms-landing-page repeats on every landing page. This Page areas belong to this page only, so put page-specific content there. Greyed-out types come from extensions that aren't active for the domain. Custom content types can add more.
Drag CMS IMAGE into the first This Page area. Image Settings opens. Under Image Upload, click No File Chosen. In the Image Manager, click trade-counter-banner.svg, then Select. Images come from the File Cabinet.
The banner appears in the area. In Name, enter Trade counter banner. In Alternate Text, enter Trade counter with stocked shelves. Always fill in alternate text for a meaningful image. Click Save.
Each content item has its own Visibility. Leave it on Always Visible, or pick Visible on Specific Dates to schedule it.
05. Add the text
Open Add Content again and drag CMS TEXT into the same This Page area, under the banner. Text Settings opens. In Name, enter Trade account intro. In Text, type the paragraph: "Contractors and facilities teams can open a trade account for volume pricing, net 30 terms and next-day delivery." It appears under the banner as you type. Click Save.
06. Preview the drafts
Click View on the toolbar. Include Unpublished Changes is checked, so the page shows the breadcrumb, the banner, and the text. Only you see this preview. All three changes are still drafts, and shoppers still get Page not found.
07. Publish only this page's changes
Click Review & Publish Changes. In this example the list shows 4 Unpublished Changes: Trade Accounts, Trade counter banner, and Trade account intro, all on Path /trade-accounts with Change Added, plus Holiday hours banner on /, an older draft by another editor.
Select the three /trade-accounts rows and leave Holiday hours banner clear. Only the rows you select get published. Publish the page together with all of its content rows. A published page without its content is empty, and content on an unpublished page isn't visible.
Click Publish. In the Publish Drafts dialog, click Yes.
The message "The changes were successfully published" appears. The list keeps only Holiday hours banner: 1 Unpublished Change.
08. Check the live page
Open /trade-accounts on the storefront in a fresh or private browser session, signed out, so you see what shoppers see. The breadcrumb reads Home › Trade Accounts | Larkspur Supply, followed by the banner and the text. The address that said Page not found is now a live page.
Check the result
- Overview > Pages lists Trade Accounts with Path /trade-accounts.
- Review & Publish Changes no longer lists Trade Accounts, Trade counter banner, or Trade account intro. Holiday hours banner is still unpublished.
- In a fresh session, /trade-accounts shows the breadcrumb, the Trade counter banner image, and the Trade account intro text instead of Page not found.
When the new page doesn't show
Caching can delay what shoppers see after you publish. Check in a private or fresh browser session, signed out, and hard-refresh. If the old page persists, check the path (it's case-sensitive), the visibility dates on the page and each content item, the domain, and whether every dependent row was published.
If SMT shows the home page after you open a new, empty page, publish the page, open its address on the storefront, and press Escape there to edit it.
Item and category content, like names, descriptions, and meta fields, is usually better kept on the item and commerce category records in NetSuite. Use SMT for landing pages, blog posts, scheduled banners, and one-off content on a specific page.
Common questions
How do I open Site Management Tools from my web store?
Open the storefront page you want to work on and press Escape. SMT opens in View mode on that address, and its toolbar switches between Overview, View, Edit, and Review & Publish Changes. If you aren't signed in, you sign in with your NetSuite user first.
Where do I turn on Site Management Tools in NetSuite?
In SuiteCommerce Configuration: Commerce > Websites > Configuration, select the website and domain, click Configure, then open Integrations > Site Management Tools. Check Use Site Management Tools and save. It's set per website and domain.
What does Disable ESC Key To Login do?
It turns off the Escape shortcut. When it's clear, pressing Escape on the storefront opens SMT. When it's checked, editors have to reach SMT another way. Either way, editing still needs a NetSuite user whose role has SMT permissions.
Why doesn't my new SMT page show on the live site?
Most often it hasn't been published. New pages and content are drafts until you publish them in Review & Publish Changes, and View mode with Include Unpublished Changes only shows them to you. If you did publish, check that the page and every content row went out, the path's capitalization, the visibility dates, and the domain, then look again in a private session.
Can I publish only some of the changes in SMT?
Yes. In Review & Publish Changes, select only the rows you want and click Publish. Anything you leave clear, including other editors' drafts, stays unpublished.
What's the difference between All Pages and This Page content areas?
Content in an All Pages area shows on every page of the site that has that area. A page-type area, like cms-landing-page, repeats on every page of that type. This Page areas belong to the current page only, so that's where page-specific content goes.
What do Name, Heading, Path, and Title do on an SMT landing page?
Name is the page's internal name. Heading and Path fill in from it. Path is the storefront address, like /trade-accounts, and it's case-sensitive and must be unique. Title, on the Metadata tab, is the page's HTML title; in the base theme the breadcrumb shows it too.
Do I have to publish a landing page before I can add content to it?
No. After you save a new page, SMT opens it in Edit mode and you can add content right away. Preview it in View mode with Include Unpublished Changes, then publish the page and its content together.
Should I edit category and item content in SMT or in NetSuite?
Item and category content, like names, descriptions, and meta fields, is usually better kept on the item and commerce category records in NetSuite. Use SMT for landing pages, blog posts, scheduled banners, and one-off content on a specific page.
