The quick answer
Stripe's Connector for NetSuite adds a Stripe Payment Page field to invoices, but the bundle ships it with a placeholder formula, so the link is dead until you replace it. Open the field under Customization > Lists, Records, & Fields > Transaction Body Fields, paste the formula from the connector's setup wizard into Default Value on the Validation & Defaulting subtab, and keep Formula checked. Then apply that field and Stripe Payment Page Guid to your invoice forms. A new invoice shows a Stripe Payment Page Link once it's saved. On the free plan shown here, a customer paying through that link does not create a payment in NetSuite, so the invoice stays open until someone records it.

Before you start
This guide picks up in the middle of the Stripe Connector for NetSuite setup. The connector is Stripe's own app, installed from the Stripe Dashboard's App Marketplace, and its wizard walks you through the earlier steps: turning on SOAP Web Services and Token-Based Authentication, installing the authentication bundle, giving the connector's role to an integration user, entering your NetSuite account ID and access token, filling in the Stripe Account ID on each subsidiary that takes payments, and installing the Stripe Invoice Payment Page bundle. Here all of that is done. The payment page bundle (449983 in this account) has added two transaction body fields, and the wizard is on its Generate default value formula step. Use the bundle ID your wizard shows. The wizard's later Turn on payment pages step is what switches the links on, so don't skip it once the fields are applied.
An Administrator did this setup here. In your account, use a role that can edit transaction body fields and apply them to forms, and follow your own segregation-of-duties rules. You also need the formula from your own wizard. Don't type it by hand or swap in field IDs. In the version shown, the formula builds the link from the subsidiary's Stripe account ID, the invoice's Guid and the invoice's internal ID, with test or live mode in the URL. The one in the screenshots is a test-mode formula.
The free plan shown here generates payment links for invoices that you can put on PDFs and emails. The paid plan advertises automatic payment application, reconciliation and refunds. Plans change, so check Stripe's current plan description before you promise your AR team anything. Menu paths are the ones in this account. If a page isn't where it says, search for its name in global search.
01. Open the Stripe Payment Page field
Go to Customization > Lists, Records, & Fields > Transaction Body Fields. The list shows Stripe Payment Page and Stripe Payment Page Guid, both with From Bundle 449983. Click Stripe Payment Page. Its Type is Hyperlink. The Guid field is a hidden key that gives each invoice a unique identifier, so nobody can guess another invoice's payment URL.
02. Replace the default value formula
Click the Validation & Defaulting subtab. Default Value still holds the bundle's placeholder formula. The URL has acct_REPLACE_ME and test_or_live_DELETE_ONE in it, so every invoice would get a link that goes nowhere.
In the connector's setup wizard, copy the formula from the Generate default value formula step and use it to replace the Default Value. In this example it is the following. Yours comes from your wizard, so paste that one, unchanged:
'https://netsuite-connector.stripe.com/payment/'||||'/test/invoice/'||||'_'||
Keep Formula checked.
03. Apply both fields to the invoice forms
Click Save & Apply to Forms. Apply Custom Field to Forms lists Standard Product Invoice and Standard Service Invoice. Click Mark All, which ticks Show on both, then click Save. You land back on Transaction Body Fields. The field's Applies To settings and your own form customization also decide where it appears. If you use a custom invoice form, apply both fields to it too, and check them if a form you use isn't listed.
Now do the same for Stripe Payment Page Guid: open it, click Save & Apply to Forms, Mark All, Save. The Guid stays hidden on the form, but the link formula reads it, so it has to be on the same forms.
04. Create an invoice and find its link
Go to Transactions > Sales > Create Invoices. Pick the Customer, here Maple Street Dental, and on the Items subtab add the item. This example uses one Walnut Wall Shelf at a rate of 740.00, so the Summary shows 740.00. Until you save, Stripe Payment Page shows only the start of the URL, because the invoice has no internal ID yet.
Click Save. Invoice 2208 is Open with an Amount Due of 740.00, and Primary Information now shows Stripe Payment Page with a Stripe Payment Page Link. The link only appears on invoices created after the setup. Older invoices have no Guid, so the formula can't build a working address for them. The connector offers a GUID backfill bundle for that.
05. Validate the link in the connector
Right-click Stripe Payment Page Link and choose Copy Link. The address should start with https://netsuite-connector.stripe.com/payment/ followed by your Stripe account ID and /test/invoice/. In the wizard's Troubleshooting step, paste it into Payment page and click Validate. It shows Validated. That checks the link's structure and that it matches your Stripe account. It doesn't prove the checkout page loads, which is the next step.
06. Pay the invoice in Stripe test checkout
Back on invoice 2208, click Stripe Payment Page Link. Stripe checkout opens for Invoice 2208, $740.00, with a Sandbox badge. Enter an email, Stripe's published test card 4242 4242 4242 4242, a future expiry (12 / 29 here), any CVC (123 here), a cardholder name and any ZIP code (97209 here), then click Pay. Use test cards only in test mode, and never a real card. Check Stripe's current test instructions if one of these values stops working.
The page shows Thank you for your payment.
07. See what NetSuite recorded
Open invoice 2208 again. Stripe took the payment, but NetSuite still shows the invoice as Open with 740.00 due. Click the Related Records subtab. No customer payment appears. In the free-plan setup shown, the connector doesn't create one. Confirm your own plan and connector version.
Check the result
- Stripe Payment Page Link appears on a new invoice after you save it, and the wizard's Validate returns Validated.
- The link opens Stripe checkout for the right invoice number and amount, and a test card is accepted.
- Back in NetSuite, you know whether a payment record exists. Here the invoice is still Open with 740.00 due and Related Records is empty.
When that happens, someone has to record the payment. Before you enter one by hand, make sure no webhook, paid plan, separate integration or scheduled process will create it later, or the invoice can be paid twice. One way is Accept Payment on the invoice, into Undeposited Funds or a clearing account that matches how you reconcile Stripe payouts. The other is a plan that syncs payments. Decide separately how Stripe fees, refunds, disputes and payouts get recorded.
If the link is missing or broken, check that the invoice form shows Stripe Payment Page, that the invoice's subsidiary has a Stripe Account ID, that the formula has no leftover placeholders, that the invoice is new or has a Guid, and that payment pages are turned on in the wizard.
Common questions
What formula goes in the Stripe Payment Page field's Default Value?
The one your connector's setup wizard gives you, on its Generate default value formula step. Paste it over the bundle's placeholder and keep Formula checked. Don't rebuild it by hand. The exact text can vary with your connector version, test or live mode, and subsidiary setup.
Why does my payment link say acct_REPLACE_ME?
That's the bundle's placeholder, and it means the wizard's formula never replaced it. Put the wizard's formula in Default Value, keep Formula checked, save the field, and check a new invoice.
Do I need to apply Stripe Payment Page Guid to my invoice forms?
Yes. Apply both fields to the invoice forms you use. The Guid stays hidden on the form, but the link formula reads it, so the link can't be built without it. In this example, Mark All on Standard Product Invoice and Standard Service Invoice covered both forms. A custom invoice form needs the same treatment.
Why don't older invoices have a Stripe payment link?
The link shows up on invoices created after the setup. An older invoice needs a valid Guid before the formula can build a working link. The connector offers a GUID backfill bundle for that, so check whether your version includes it.
Why is my invoice still open after the customer paid through the Stripe link?
In the free-plan setup shown, Stripe takes the payment but NetSuite never gets a customer payment. The invoice stays Open with the full amount due and nothing under Related Records. Confirm the payment in Stripe, then record it in NetSuite, or move to a plan that syncs payments if your account has one. Make sure nothing else will create the payment first, or you'll record it twice.
Does the free Stripe Connector for NetSuite create customer payments in NetSuite?
Not in the setup covered here. The free plan generates the payment links. Plans and features change, so check what your installed plan and connector version actually do.
How do I test a Stripe invoice payment link without a real card?
Stay in Stripe test mode and use a new invoice. Validate the link in the wizard, open it, and pay with Stripe's test card 4242 4242 4242 4242, any future expiry, any CVC and any ZIP. Never use a real card. Then look at both Stripe and NetSuite, because a successful test checkout doesn't tell you whether NetSuite recorded anything.
