How to edit a vendor credit due date in NetSuite

Edit and verify a vendor credit’s saved Due Date, then inspect its Apply row in Pay Single Vendor without applying the credit or saving a payment.

The quick answer

Open the existing vendor credit, click Edit, change Due Date, and save. Reopen the credit to verify that the value persisted. Changing only the date does not itself apply the credit or schedule a payment. Preserve the unapplied state by leaving Auto Apply off and application rows clear wherever your form exposes those controls. Pay Single Vendor can provide a second comparison when the credit is eligible and the form shows its due date.

The record heading can read Bill Credit. This example updates VC-6408 from Juniper Parts Supply to 15 October 2026, then checks the credit beside open bill VB-6411 in an unsaved Bill Payment.

Person and operating-company names in the screenshots are fictional example data. Use your own records and values.

Before you start

Use an existing unapplied credit you are authorized to edit. Confirm vendor, subsidiary, currency, A/P account, remaining unapplied amount, and any approval or period restrictions. Due Date must be exposed and editable on the form. Terms, localization, workflows, and form rules can affect whether the entered value persists. Enter dates in your account’s format; the replay uses month/day/year. To preserve an unapplied credit, check that Auto Apply is off and no credit application rows are selected where those controls are present. The replay confirms 480.00 unapplied after saving; it does not demonstrate every account’s application controls.

01. Inspect the existing credit

Locate the vendor credit through your account’s vendor-credit list or transaction search. Open VC-6408 and confirm Juniper Parts Supply and 480.00 Unapplied. Check subsidiary, currency, and A/P account before editing. The intended record must be editable.

The existing Bill Credit is VC-6408 for Juniper Parts Supply.
The credit starts with 480.00 Unapplied and 0.00 Applied.

02. Edit and save Due Date

Click Edit, find Due Date, and enter 15 October 2026 in your account’s date format. The example uses 10/15/2026. Check that you changed Due Date, rather than the transaction Date or posting period, then click Save. If the field is missing or locked, inspect the form and account configuration before proceeding.

Due Date is entered as 10/15/2026 on the credit edit form.

03. Reopen and verify the saved credit

Reopen the credit and confirm Due Date 10/15/2026 persisted. In the example, 480.00 remains unapplied. If the date changed, investigate terms or automation before relying on it. The saved credit is the primary confirmation.

The reopened vendor credit shows the persisted Due Date 10/15/2026.

04. Inspect Apply without saving a payment

Go to Transactions > Payables > Pay Single Vendor. Select the same vendor and a compatible subsidiary, currency, and A/P account. Open Apply and locate the credit and open bill. This example shows VC-6408, Date Due 10/15/2026, and VB-6411. Leave both Apply boxes clear and the payment unsaved. If your form does not show the credit’s date, verify it on the credit record. If the credit is absent, check approval state, remaining amount, context, and filters. Available payment context fields and the date-column layout vary by form.

Apply shows VC-6408 with Date Due 10/15/2026 beside VB-6411; both Apply boxes are clear.

Success is a saved credit date that survives reopening. The optional Apply comparison matches that date where the column is available. In this example the credit remains 480.00 unapplied, both Apply boxes stay clear, and no payment is saved.

Common questions

Can I change a vendor credit’s due date?

Yes, when your transaction form exposes an editable Due Date and your role can edit the credit. Enter the date in your account’s format, save, and reopen the credit to verify the value.

Does changing the due date apply the credit?

Changing only Due Date does not itself apply the credit. To preserve an unapplied credit, leave application rows clear and Auto Apply off where available. Check Applied and Unapplied after saving.

Why is Due Date missing or read-only?

The form, role permissions, terms, localization, workflows, scripts, and other account configuration can affect the field. Check those settings; changing the transaction Date is a different action.

Why did the due date change after saving?

Terms or account automation may source or recalculate the value. Reopen the saved credit and inspect the persisted date before relying on it.

Why is the credit missing from Pay Single Vendor?

Check the selected vendor, subsidiary, currency, and A/P account, plus approval state, remaining unapplied amount, permissions, and filters. The open bill must also be eligible. An absent row does not establish that the date edit failed.

What if Apply does not show the credit’s due date?

Verify the date on the reopened vendor credit. Date Due is a secondary display check in this example; payment forms can expose different columns.

Do I need to save a payment to verify the date?

No. The reopened credit proves whether the date persisted. You can inspect its eligible row in Pay Single Vendor while leaving Apply boxes clear and the payment unsaved.
