The quick answer
With the Electronic Bank Payments SuiteApp, open the vendor bill, click Edit, and on its EFT subtab set Entity Bank (Vendor) to the vendor's secondary bank details. Save. The bill drops off Payments > Payment Processing > Bill Payment Processing (EFT - Bill Payments), because that page leaves out bills that name an entity bank. Pay it from Payments > Global Payments > Bill Payment Processing instead: choose the bank account and A/P account, check Pay, enter the EFT file reference note and click Submit. The bill payment's EFT subtab then shows the secondary bank in Entity Bank (Vendor). The vendor's Primary bank details stay as they are for every other bill.
Vendors sometimes want one invoice paid into a different account, like a lockbox or a factoring company. Changing the vendor's Primary bank details would send every later EFT payment there too, until someone remembers to change it back. Naming the bank on the one bill avoids that. The catch is that the bill then disappears from the page most payables clerks use, and it's easy to think it's gone.
In the example, Linden Ridge Tooling pays its suppliers by ACH from Operating Checking. Northgate Steel Supply wants bill NSS-4452, 4,212.00, paid into its lockbox account. All people, companies, bills and bank numbers in the screenshots are fictional example data.
Before you start
You need the Electronic Bank Payments SuiteApp and a company bank record under Payments > Setup > Bank Details with its GL bank account, an EFT template (here ACH - CCD/PPD) and the details your bank requires. Your role needs the SuiteApp's permissions and access to the company bank, vendors, vendor bills, bill payments and the subsidiary. The example uses the Administrator role.
The vendor needs EFT Bill Payment checked and a bank detail for each account on its Bank Payment Details subtab, in a payment file format that matches the company bank's EFT template. A vendor has one Primary bank detail and can have Secondary ones. In OneWorld accounts, a bank detail's subsidiary also has to fit the bill and the company bank.
The bill has to be payable: approved and open, not on payment hold, posted to the A/P account you'll choose, not already in a payment batch or payment file, and compatible with the company bank, payment file format, subsidiary, currency and the bank detail you name. If your account routes vendor payments for approval, check how Electronic Bank Payments is set up for it before you start. With EFT batch approval routing, a run can create a payment batch that has to be approved before a file is generated.
What moves the bill is any value in Entity Bank (Vendor), not the bank being Secondary. A bill that names the Primary bank detail explicitly is also paid from Global Bill Payments. A bill with the field blank stays on the standard page and uses the vendor's default EFT bank details, normally the Primary. A bank detail that's inactive can stay selected on the bill, but the bill won't be processed until you pick an active one.
01 · Check the vendor's bank details
Go to Lists > Relationships > Vendors and open Northgate Steel Supply. On the Bank Payment Details subtab, EFT Bill Payment is checked. Bank Details has two rows, both in ACH - CCD/PPD format: Northgate Steel Main with Type Primary, and Northgate Steel Lockbox with Type Secondary.
Nothing changes here. The Primary stays Northgate Steel Main for the whole walkthrough.
02 · See the bill on EFT - Bill Payments
Go to Payments > Payment Processing > Bill Payment Processing.
On EFT - Bill Payments, choose Operating Checking in Bank account. In the example, Bank account format ACH - CCD/PPD, Maximum payments in file, Subsidiary and the currencies fill in from the company bank. Choose 2000 Accounts Payable in A/P account. Note the Vendor and Employee filters on this page. The Global page doesn't have them.
In the example, Select Transactions lists five open bills:
- NSS-4410, Northgate Steel Supply, 2,860.00
- NSS-4436, Northgate Steel Supply, 1,945.50
- NSS-4452, Northgate Steel Supply, 4,212.00
- PL-8813, Pinecrest Logistics, 735.00
- PL-8829, Pinecrest Logistics, 1,180.25
Paid from here, NSS-4452 would go to Northgate's default EFT bank details, normally the Primary. Leave the page without submitting.
03 · Set the bill's Entity Bank (Vendor)
Open bill NSS-4452. The example opens it from Recent Records. On the EFT subtab, Entity Bank (Vendor) is blank.
Click Edit and open the EFT subtab. In Entity Bank (Vendor), choose Northgate Steel Lockbox. In the example, the list offers this vendor's two bank details.
Click Save. The EFT subtab now shows Entity Bank (Vendor) Northgate Steel Lockbox as a link.
04 · Confirm the bill left the standard page
Go back to Payments > Payment Processing > Bill Payment Processing and choose Operating Checking and 2000 Accounts Payable again. Select Transactions now lists four bills. Northgate's NSS-4410 and NSS-4436 are still there, along with the two Pinecrest bills. NSS-4452 isn't, because its Entity Bank (Vendor) is filled in.
If someone on your team looks for the bill here, it hasn't been paid or deleted. It's waiting on the Global page.
05 · Pay the bill from Global Bill Payments
Go to Payments > Global Payments > Bill Payment Processing.
Global Bill Payments has the same sections as the standard page. In this account it has no Vendor or Employee filter, and its aggregation checkbox reads Aggregate by Payee and Entity Bank. When it's checked, bills for the same payee and the same entity bank (and currency) become one bill payment, so payments to two different accounts of one vendor stay separate. It's unchecked in the example. Choose Operating Checking in Bank account and 2000 Accounts Payable in A/P account.
In the example, Select Transactions lists one bill: NSS-4452, Northgate Steel Supply, 4,212.00.
Check Pay on NSS-4452. Payment Amount fills with 4,212.00.
Under Payment Information, Number of Transactions reads 1 and Total Payment Amount reads 4,212.00. Leave Date to be processed at 10/01/2026 and Posting period at Oct 2026. In EFT file reference note, type Oct 1 Northgate lockbox. On this page all three are marked required, and the note shows up on the payment file record so you can recognize the run later. Click Submit.
06 · Confirm which account was paid
NetSuite opens Payment File Administration 00000041: Payment Type EFT, File Processed? Queued, Status Summary Transactions for processing: 1, Reference Note Oct 1 Northgate lockbox, and Is Global Payment checked, because the run came from the Global page.
Click Refresh until File Processed? reads Processed, or until the record shows errors or unprocessed transactions. It took two refreshes in the example, but timing varies. Here, Status Summary shows Marked Transactions: 1 and Paid Transactions: 1, and Total Amount Paid is 4,212.00. EFT batch approval routing, payment batch setup or processing errors can change this path, and Status Summary is where you'll see it.
The Payments subtab lists bill payment 2214, dated 10/01/2026, to Northgate Steel Supply for 4,212.00.
Click 2214 and open the bill payment's EFT subtab. Entity Bank (Vendor) is Northgate Steel Lockbox, Entity Bank Details shows Bank Account Number 9038156612, and PFA Record is 00000041. Preferred Entity Bank still reads Northgate Steel Main. That's the vendor-level preference, and naming a bank on one bill doesn't change it.
Check the result (example values)
- Standard page: EFT - Bill Payments went from five bills to four, without NSS-4452.
- Global page: Global Bill Payments listed only NSS-4452 for 4,212.00.
- File record: 00000041 reads Processed, with Total Amount Paid 4,212.00 and Is Global Payment checked.
- Bill payment 2214: Entity Bank (Vendor) Northgate Steel Lockbox and Bank Account Number 9038156612.
Generating the file doesn't move money or confirm the bank paid it. Download the file from File Reference and upload it through your bank's channel, unless a separately configured bank integration sends it for you. For more on the file record and what to do with the file, see how to create an ACH file for vendor bill payments. Common questions
Why did my bill disappear from EFT - Bill Payments?
Its Entity Bank (Vendor) field on the EFT subtab is filled in. EFT - Bill Payments leaves out bills that name an entity bank, so the bill shows up under Payments > Global Payments > Bill Payment Processing instead.
Can a vendor have more than one bank account for EFT payments?
Yes. The vendor's Bank Payment Details subtab can hold several bank details: one Primary and any number of Secondary ones. Each needs a payment file format that matches the company bank's EFT template, ACH - CCD/PPD in this example.
Does naming a bank on the bill change the vendor's Primary bank details?
No. The bank you pick on the bill only applies to that bill. The vendor's Primary bank detail stays the same, and the bill payment still shows it as the Preferred Entity Bank.
What does Is Global Payment mean on a Payment File Administration record?
It marks a payment file run that came from the Global Payments pages, which handle bills that name an entity bank. In the example, file 00000041 has it checked because NSS-4452 was paid from Global Bill Payments.
How can I tell which vendor bank account a bill payment was paid to?
Open the bill payment and its EFT subtab. Entity Bank (Vendor) names the bank detail, Entity Bank Details shows the account number the file used, and PFA Record links to the payment file run.
Can I pay a bill to the vendor's Primary account through Global Bill Payments?
Yes. Any value in Entity Bank (Vendor) moves the bill to Global Bill Payments, including the Primary bank detail chosen on purpose. Leave the field blank if you want the bill on the standard page.
Does Aggregate by Payee and Entity Bank combine payments to different accounts?
No. When it's checked, bills are combined only when they share the payee and the entity bank (and currency). Two bills for the same vendor that name different bank details become separate payments.
How do I move a bill back to the standard EFT page?
Edit the bill, clear Entity Bank (Vendor) on the EFT subtab, and save. If the bill is still eligible, it shows up on EFT - Bill Payments again and uses the vendor's default EFT bank details.
Can I set Entity Bank (Vendor) on many bills at once?
This walkthrough sets it on one bill. If you set it in bulk some other way, check a few bills afterward to make sure each one names the right, active bank detail, because every bill with the field filled in moves to Global Bill Payments.
