The quick answer
Import a customer CSV using Relationships, Customers Only, Update, and Overwrite Sublists. Identify the customer by Internal ID and map blank pricing columns to the Customer - Item Pricing sublist. This replaces the customer's entire Item Pricing list, so keep a complete backup and test one controlled customer first.
Screenshots show a synthetic walkthrough with example data. Person and operating-company names are fictional.
Before you start
Use a role that can edit the customer and run CSV imports. Confirm that every Item Pricing row should be removed. Retain every field needed to restore the rows, including the customer identifier, item, unit price, price level, currency where applicable, and any additional pricing columns in your account. Currency and price-level fields depend on enabled currency and pricing features. The example uses Harbor Design Studio, Internal ID 4621. Menu paths and available fields can differ by role and form.
01. Review and back up the existing prices
Open the customer, select Financial, then Item Pricing. Confirm the customer and every row you intend to remove. Harbor Design Studio has two Custom prices in US Dollar: WS-220 Work Stand at 245.00 and LM-18 Task Lamp at 99.00. Retain a complete restorable copy before importing.
02. Prepare the clearing CSV
The example file uses Internal ID,Item,Unit Price,Currency,Price Level with one data row: 4621,,,,. Use the applicable fields exposed by your account's Customer Item Pricing mapping. Currency and price-level columns may differ with enabled features; the demonstrated mapping includes Unit Price. Leave the pricing values blank.
03. Upload a customer update
Go to Setup > Import/Export > Import CSV Records. Select Import Type: Relationships and Record Type: Customers Only. Upload clear-item-pricing.csv, then click Next.
04. Select Update and Overwrite Sublists
Choose Update. Expand Advanced Options and select Overwrite Sublists. This import replaces the target Item Pricing sublist with the supplied rows. The blank pricing data is intended to remove all existing rows. Overwrite Missing Fields, if shown, is a separate option; leave it unselected for this procedure. Review other options before continuing.
05. Remove body-field mappings
Keep Internal ID mapped to Customer : Internal ID. Remove automatically proposed Customer : Currency and Customer : Price Level mappings. Those are body fields; the blank pricing columns belong to the sublist.
06. Map the empty Item Pricing fields
Map the applicable pricing columns to the same Customer - Item Pricing 1 group. The example maps Item, Unit Price, Currency, and Price Level. Confirm that the imported values stay blank and that no pricing column points to a customer body field.
07. Run the import and inspect the result
Continue to the final page and review the target and mapping. Use Save & Run to retain a reusable mapping, or Run when available. Inspect the completed job, successful record count, and error or CSV response details. This example reports Complete and 1 of 1 records imported successfully. Submission alone does not establish success.
08. Verify the same customer
Reopen or refresh Harbor Design Studio and inspect Financial > Item Pricing. The grid says No records to show. Separately check that the default Price Level remains Base Price and that Group Pricing still contains Office Furniture at Wholesale (-10%). Check unrelated fields too. Extend the file to more customers only after the single-customer test succeeds.
Common questions
Why do blank CSV cells leave the old pricing rows in place?
Blank cells alone do not replace the sublist. Check Update, Overwrite Sublists, the customer Internal ID, and mappings to Customer - Item Pricing rather than customer body fields.
Can I remove only selected pricing rows?
Use a complete replacement sublist containing every row you want to retain. An empty-sublist import clears all item-price overrides for that customer. Back up the original rows and test one customer first.
Does this change the item's standard prices?
Clearing customer Item Pricing removes customer-specific rows. It does not edit the item record's standard prices. The customer's default price level, Group Pricing, and other pricing rules can still affect a new transaction's rate.
Is Overwrite Missing Fields the same as Overwrite Sublists?
No. Overwrite Sublists controls replacement of the mapped sublist rows. Overwrite Missing Fields is a separate option and is not required for this clearing method.
How can I restore the original prices?
Reimport the complete backup as a customer update with the applicable Item Pricing mappings and Overwrite Sublists. Inspect the completed job and reopen the customer to verify every original row and unrelated pricing setting.
