The quick answer

Before you start
This applies to an existing form using Basic printing and a prepared PDF layout. Oracle has announced Basic layouts for future deprecation without a stated date; use Advanced PDF/HTML for new template work. Editing a shared form can affect other transactions that use it.
01. Inspect the current printed invoice
Print existing invoice INV-9524 as PDF using Customer Invoice. The baseline has Item, Description and Amount, but no Quantity. Note Alder Retail and the $3,150 total for the comparison.
02. Open the form’s printing controls
Return to the invoice and choose Customize → Customize Form. Confirm Printing Type Basic and PDF Layout Customer Invoice Layout. Open Printing Fields → Columns. Screen Fields controls the onscreen form instead.
03. Include the Quantity column
Find the row identified as Quantity, whose label is Qty. Select Print/Email and set Width to 1. Keep Item, Description and Amount enabled at widths 3, 5 and 1, then Save the form. These widths are relative values, not inches.
04. Compare the same invoice PDF
Return to INV-9524 and print again. Qty now shows 1 for Annual Service Plan and 6 for Implementation Services. The customer, line amounts and $3,150 total match the original output.

- The invoice identity and $3,150 total match the baseline.

Common questions
Why is Quantity missing from my basic printed invoice?
Quantity may not be enabled in the invoice form’s printed columns. Edit the custom transaction form, confirm Printing Type is Basic, then enable Quantity under Printing Fields > Columns. The field may be labeled Qty.
Should I edit Printing Fields or Screen Fields?
Edit Printing Fields > Columns. Screen Fields controls the invoice form users see on screen; it does not control which columns appear on the basic PDF.
What do the column width numbers mean?
They are relative sizing values, not measurements in inches. For example, you can keep Item at 3, Description at 5, Amount at 1, and set Quantity to 1. The final appearance also depends on the selected PDF layout, page size, and content.
Will adding Quantity change the invoice amounts?
No. This change affects the printed form only; it does not change the invoice’s items, quantities, amounts, or total. However, editing a shared custom transaction form can affect other transactions that use that form.
