The quick answer
Review a pending sales order in the standard approval queue, submit approval, and verify the resulting order status.
Review and release a pending sales order
An authorized approver can review an order waiting for approval, then submit approval through the standard bulk queue. This recording starts with an existing pending order; it does not configure approval routing, create the order, or fulfill it. This walkthrough uses fictional example data.
Before you begin
You need approval and transaction access, an active approval process, and an eligible order in Pending Approval. This walkthrough covers the standard bulk queue. Custom workflows may use an Approve button or another queue, and some orders bypass approval.
Steps
- Open Transactions > Sales > Approve Sales Orders and find SO-AP-1001 for Northstar Equipment. Confirm that the order is Pending Approval.
- Open the order number and review its details before changing the status.
- Return to the queue, mark the order’s approval checkbox, and choose Submit. Review the recorded queue confirmation. As a follow-up check outside the recording, reopen the order to verify its actual resulting status; the status depends on configuration and order details. Approval does not fulfill or ship the order.
Common questions
Why is the order still pending?
An approval action may be incomplete, an approver assignment may be missing, or workflow conditions may keep it pending. Ask an authorized administrator to review the configured approval route and workflow conditions.
Does every sales order use this process?
No. Some orders are automatically approved or bypass approval, and custom workflows can require another queue or record-level action. Approval and fulfillment remain separate stages.
