How to run an A/R aging report in NetSuite

Run NetSuite A/R Aging Summary, confirm the as-of date and aging basis, and read customer balances across the displayed buckets.

The quick answer

To run an A/R aging report in NetSuite, open Reports > Customer/Receivables > A/R Aging. Confirm the As of date and aging options, refresh, then review customer balances across the displayed aging buckets.

Use A/R aging to see which customer balances need attention. Before reading the oldest bucket, check the date and aging basis so you know what the report is measuring. The screenshots use sample data and fictional person and operating-company names.

Before you start

Your role needs access to receivables reports and the relevant customers. Decide the as-of date you need. Subsidiary restrictions, report filters, and aging preferences can change the result.

01. Open A/R Aging

Go to Reports > Customer/Receivables > A/R Aging and confirm the A/R Aging Summary title. Wait for the report to finish loading.

The summary groups receivables by customer or project. Activity without an associated entity may appear under No Customer/Project. Use it to identify where to investigate rather than treating each row as a single invoice.

Open the A/R Aging report from Customer/Receivables.

02. Check the date and aging options

Review As of in the footer. The recording uses 7/21/2026. Check Aging Options and the report’s configured basis before interpreting balances as overdue.

If you change a date or filter, click Refresh and wait for the new results. Read the bucket headings again; their date ranges should match your intended view.

Confirm the as-of date before interpreting the aging buckets.

03. Read the customer balances

Read the customer row across the buckets. This example shows 501.05 total: 400.00 in the 30-day bucket, 100.00 in the 90-day bucket, and 1.05 in the oldest bucket.

Use the actual column labels to interpret those amounts. Follow up in detail or on the underlying transactions when you need invoice-level answers; the recording stops at the summary.

The summary separates the customer balance into dated buckets.

Check the result

  1. The as-of date and aging basis are the intended ones.
  2. Customer balances appear under the correct displayed date ranges.
  3. The total and any old balances have a clear follow-up path.

You have a dated receivables view. Use the underlying transactions and applications to resolve an unexpected balance before contacting the customer.

Common questions

How do I open the A/R Aging Summary report?

A/R Aging Summary generally appears at Reports > Customer/Receivables > A/R Aging. Confirm that the page is the summary view, then review the displayed company, subsidiary, customer, currency, and date context. Menu availability and visible controls depend on the user’s role and account configuration.

What does the Current column mean in A/R Aging?

In A/R Aging, Current generally represents unpaid amounts that are not overdue under the report’s aging basis and settings. Later columns show progressively older balances, commonly 1–30, 31–60, 61–90, and 90+ days. Exact labels and boundaries can differ when interval, duration, or aging preferences change.

Why does a No Customer/Project row appear?

A No Customer/Project row usually indicates receivable activity without an associated customer or project. Review it before concluding that customer totals are complete. Depending on account setup, this can include qualifying entries posted without entity information; investigate the underlying transactions separately rather than treating the row as collected or reconciled.

Does running A/R Aging apply payments or reconcile receivables?

Running A/R Aging only displays a reporting balance for the selected context; it does not apply payments, alter invoices, or reconcile accounts. To change the view, adjust available interval, duration, date, subsidiary, or customer controls and refresh. Which controls appear depends on account features, permissions, and OneWorld configuration.
