The quick answer
Open a new Partner, enter the business name, complete the required fields, and save. Review the saved partner details before using the record. Partner Center access, commissions, and sales associations require their own setup.
The screenshots show sample data. Person and operating-company names are fictional. Use your own records and values when following the steps.
Before you start
Use a role that can create partners and search for the organization first. Have the business name, contact details, and subsidiary if applicable available. The recording saves a company partner without an email; enter one when your process requires it.
01. Check the partner form
Open a new Partner form. Confirm the type is Company for a business and review the subsidiary. Leave the automatic partner code option enabled if your account should assign the identifier.
02. Enter the company name
Enter Company Name and review the partner identifier shown by your form. Add the intended contact email when needed. This demonstration enters Channel Partners LLC and leaves Email empty, so it doesn’t demonstrate a saved email address.
03. Save and inspect the partner
Select Save. Check that the resulting Partner page retains the company name and subsidiary. The saved example has Partner Code 2 and an empty Email field. Saving the partner alone doesn’t grant access or configure commissions.
Check the result
- The saved Partner page shows the correct company.
- The subsidiary and contact details match your intended setup.
- Any required access or commission setup is handled separately.
Common questions
How do I create a Partner record with company and email information?
Open a new Partner form, select Company, enter the partner’s name in Company Name, enter the contact address in Email, complete any fields marked mandatory in your account, and select Save. The Partner record type and available fields depend on enabled features, form customization, and role permissions.
Which fields are required when creating a Partner?
At minimum, the company name is commonly required for a company-type partner. Additional requirements—such as Partner Code or Subsidiary—can vary by account, form, role, and whether OneWorld is enabled; in OneWorld, a subsidiary assignment is generally required before transactions can be entered for the partner.
Does entering an email address notify the partner or grant access?
No. Entering an email stores contact information only; it does not send an email, create a login, or grant Partner Center access. Access requires the relevant feature, an assigned role, and explicit access settings, which may not be available in every account.
How can I tell whether the Partner record was created successfully?
After selecting Save, confirm that NetSuite displays the saved Partner record rather than the blank entry form, and verify the company name, email, and any generated Partner ID or code. If NetSuite shows a validation message, correct the specified fields; a commission arrangement, transaction association, vendor record, or other downstream setup is not implied unless separately configured.
