Schedule a customer phone call in NetSuite

Schedule a customer phone call in NetSuite with reserved time and an agenda. Reopen the activity to check its customer link, organizer and Scheduled status.

The quick answer

Open Communication → Activities on the customer and choose New Phone Call. Enter the organizer, date, reserved time and agenda, verify the Company link, then save and check the scheduled activity.

The screenshots show a recorded demonstration with sample data. Use your own records and values when following the steps.

Before you start

Use an existing customer and permission to create phone calls. Check the user’s NetSuite timezone before entering the reserved time. Reminder settings are separate from reserving calendar time.

01. Inspect the customer’s activities

Open Alder Retail from Recent Records, then Communication → Activities. The example starts with an empty list. Choose New Phone Call.

Start the phone call from the intended customer’s Activities subtab.

02. Enter the planned call details

Enter Delivery planning call, organizer Morgan Ellis, Status Scheduled, phone 202-555-0142 and September 9, 2026. Select Reserve Time for 10:15–10:45 AM, Reminder Type None, and the agenda Review next month’s replenishment order. On Related Records, verify Company Alder Retail, then Save.

The call has a scheduled date, reserved time and agenda.

03. Check the saved customer activity

Find Delivery planning call in Alder Retail’s Activities list. Compare the date, Scheduled status, organizer and 10:15–10:45 AM time.

The customer’s list shows the saved Scheduled phone call.

04. Reopen and compare retained details

Edit the activity and check the subject, number, date, organizer, reserved time, agenda, reminder and Company link. Cancel after inspection. Saving the activity did not place the call or mark it completed.

The reopened phone call retains the planned agenda and scheduling details.

Check the result

  1. The activity appears under the intended customer.
  2. The date, organizer and reserved time match the plan.
  3. Status remains Scheduled; the record has not been marked Completed.

Common questions

How do I schedule a phone call from a customer record?

Open the customer’s Communication > Activities list and select New Phone Call. Enter the subject, organizer, date, phone number, agenda, and Scheduled status; enable Reserve Time if the call should occupy a calendar slot, verify the Company, and save.

Why do I need to select Reserve Time?

Reserve Time lets you enter a start and end time and blocks that period on the organizer’s calendar. Leave it cleared when the call should be tracked without reserving a specific time.

Does saving a phone call mark it completed?

No. Save it with Status set to Scheduled. Change the status to Completed only after the call has occurred; saving the record does not place the call.

Why can’t I see a reminder option?

Reminder fields appear only when supported by the phone call form and account configuration. If shown, select a reminder type and time; select None when no reminder is needed.
