The quick answer
In Approve Timesheets, identify each intended employee period and its Approvable Hours. Check only those rows, click Approve, then read the confirmation and compare the remaining queue. In this example, two selected periods leave the list and the other ten remain unchecked.
A batch action needs a precise selection. The same employee appears twice here, so check the period dates as well as the name.
Screenshots use fictional people and operating-company names. They reproduce the demonstrated queue with neutral example dates and the observed hour totals.
Before you start
Start with an existing Approve Timesheets queue in Timesheet Approval view. You need an account using Weekly Timesheets and native time approval, plus a role authorized to approve the submitted periods. Custom workflow-based approvals may use another screen.
This walkthrough starts with 12 period rows. It does not enter or submit employee time. The two intended rows are:
- Alex Morgan, 08/10/2026 - 08/12/2026, 16:00.
- Alex Morgan, 09/14/2026 - 09/20/2026, 24:00.
01. Read the existing queue
Confirm the page title Approve Timesheets, View Timesheet Approval, and Employee - All -. Keep the displayed filters unchanged. All twelve Select boxes start unchecked.
Locate both Alex Morgan periods and compare their 16:00 and 24:00 Approvable Hours. The dates distinguish the rows even though the employee name is the same.
02. Select only the two intended periods
Check Select beside the first Alex Morgan period, then the second. Confirm exactly two boxes are checked and the other ten are empty. Keep Mark All unused.
A selected row represents a timesheet period in this view. It is not a single individual time-entry line. The demonstration does not open the period to inspect its underlying entries.
03. Approve and check what remains
With only those two periods selected, click Approve.
Read Confirmation: Time successfully Approved.
Compare the list with the starting queue. Both Alex Morgan period rows are absent. The ten other rows remain unchecked, beginning with Blair Reed, 8:00, and ending with Finley Parker, 12:00.
The check ends here. It confirms the demonstrated selection and queue result, without asserting a saved-record badge, invoice, payroll or accounting outcome.
Common questions
Why does the same employee appear more than once?
This queue contains different submitted periods for the same employee. Compare Employee, Period and Approvable Hours before selecting a row; the name alone does not identify the intended period.
Does this approve individual time entries?
The demonstrated view selects timesheet-period rows. It does not switch to Time Entry view or inspect individual entries within a period.
Should every row disappear after I click Approve?
In this example, only the two selected periods disappear. The ten unselected rows remain unchecked. Twelve and ten are the counts for this demonstrated queue, rather than fixed system limits.
Does the confirmation prove that time was invoiced or paid?
It reports successful time approval in this queue. The walkthrough does not inspect billing, payroll, GL posting or a saved timesheet's approval badge.
Does this show how to reject time with a note?
No. It demonstrates approval of two selected periods. Rejection, notes and approval routing require separate evidence and are outside this walkthrough.
What does Approvable Hours include?
This guide uses the displayed values to distinguish the intended periods. It does not open the underlying entries or verify how the hours were calculated.
Does this apply to custom approval workflows?
It covers the demonstrated native timesheet approval queue. A custom workflow can use a different process or page; confirm the configured approval path in your account.
