The quick answer
Go to Advanced Manufacturing > Quality / Inspection Reports > Items with Quality Tests Report. The AM WB Items with Quality Tests report displays the matching inspection tests set up on assembly work bench operations. In the reviewed account each matching test appeared as its own row. Choose an assembly in the Item filter to narrow the rows and scroll right to read the sampling, evaluation and control-limit columns. Then open the operation under Advanced Manufacturing > Administration / Setup > Manufacturing Work Bench and click its Quality / Inspection subtab to see the same tests.
The screenshots show sample data. Person and company names are fictional. Use your own assemblies and operations when following the steps.
This guide only reads setup. It doesn't show inspections that were performed, measured values or failures, and it doesn't add or change a test. Assembly names, test names and numbers in the steps are example data, so don't read them as expected values. Menu names, columns and counts can vary by account, release and role.
Before you start
In this example, Alex Morgan at Example Supply Co. is the quality manager. Several assemblies have in-process checks, and Alex wants to know which operations are inspected and how. You need:
- Advanced Manufacturing installed, with a role that can view the report and the work bench operation records. If a menu entry is missing or named differently, check the SuiteApp, your role and your release.
- A clear idea of what a work bench test is. It is a test set up on an operation of an assembly. That setup is separate from Quality Management inspection, specification, queue and result records, so don't expect this report to list those.
01. Open the report
Go to Advanced Manufacturing > Quality / Inspection Reports > Items with Quality Tests Report. The AM WB Items with Quality Tests report opens with Item set to - All - and Style set to Report. The total reads 6. Each row names an item, its work bench operation, the work center and a test. In the reviewed account each matching test on an operation appeared as one row, so an assembly with two tests appeared twice. The rows depend on the report's saved search criteria. The columns run past the right edge of a normal window.
02. Narrow it to one assembly
Open the Item filter and choose SEAL-410. The report reloads with the two tests that belong to SEAL-410, and the total reads 2. The filter only narrows the rows. It doesn't change the saved search or the setup, and choosing - All - again brings back the full list. A missing row means only that no matching work bench test came back under the report's criteria. If an assembly you expect isn't listed, check that it has a work bench operation with a test, then check the saved search's criteria and what your role can see before you conclude it has no inspection.
03. Read the sampling and limit columns
Scroll the report to the right. The Pack Appearance Check row shows Requires Sampling, Each Unit, Test Passes Or Fails and a Minimum Percent of 10. The Seal Width Measurement row shows Standard Result, Measurement Only, a Target Value of 24, an Upper Control Limit of 24.5 and a Lower Control Limit of 23.5.
Read the columns one at a time, because they answer different questions:
- Inspection Type was Standard Result or Requires Sampling here. Inspection Results is the configured form of the result, such as Pass/Fail or Measurement. It is a setup field, not a recorded result.
- Sample Frequency says when samples are taken. Each Unit and Each Batch are two of the choices, so check your own list. A Requires Sampling row doesn't give the sample quantity by itself. Read Sample Size, Sample Frequency and the percentage together. Sample Size is empty in this example.
- Evaluation Criteria says how the result is judged, for example Test Passes Or Fails or Measurement Only. Other values can exist.
- Target Value and the two control limits are configured reference and limit values for the test. You can't tell from the result type whether they are filled. In this example they are filled for the measurement test and empty for the Pass/Fail test, but in the reviewed account one Pass/Fail test also had a target and limits. How a value is used when the test runs depends on the test setup and the account.
- Minimum Percent is the configured percentage threshold used with percentage-based evaluation. In the reviewed account it showed the same number as the Acceptance Rate on the operation's test list, but treat that as an observation and not as proof that the two fields are interchangeable.
04. Find the same tests on the operation
The report only reads setup, so to see where the rows come from open the operation. Go to Advanced Manufacturing > Administration / Setup > Manufacturing Work Bench and click View on operation SEAL-410-20, the Seal operation. Click the Quality / Inspection subtab. The AM Mfg Work Bench Tests list shows Pack Appearance Check and Seal Width Measurement with their description, type, sample frequency, default corrective measure, result type and evaluation criteria.
Changes to a test are made on the operation record, not in the report, which can't be edited. The Edit action and the fields you can change depend on your permissions. In the reviewed account the rows seen in the report also appeared on the operation's subtab, but check the item, operation and test before you assume every report row maps to one subtab row.
Check the result
- The report lists six tests and, with Item set to SEAL-410, two tests and a total of 2.
- Scrolled right, Pack Appearance Check shows Requires Sampling, Each Unit and a Minimum Percent of 10, and Seal Width Measurement shows Measurement Only with a Target Value of 24 and limits of 24.5 and 23.5.
- Operation SEAL-410-20 shows Pack Appearance Check and Seal Width Measurement on its Quality / Inspection subtab.
This work bench test setup is separate from Quality Management inspection, specification, queue and result records. Don't use this report alone to conclude that a Quality Management inspection will be triggered when the operation runs. Confirm the specification and its trigger in your account.
Common questions
What is the Items with Quality Tests report in NetSuite Advanced Manufacturing?
It is a saved search that displays the matching tests configured on assembly work bench operations. In the reviewed account each test appeared as its own row with the item, its operation and work center, and its sampling, evaluation and limit settings. It is a view of setup, not a history of completed inspections.
Does the Items with Quality Tests report show inspection results?
No. The Inspection Results column describes the configured result measure, such as Pass/Fail or Measurement. The report doesn't show measured values, pass or fail outcomes or completed inspections. Look for those in the applicable Quality Management records and reports.
How do I filter the report by item?
Open the Item filter and choose an assembly. In the reviewed account the rows narrowed from 6 to 2 and the Style filter stayed on Report. The available values and the count depend on the report's criteria and your access.
What does Requires Sampling mean on a work bench quality test?
It was an Inspection Type value in the reviewed account, next to Standard Result, and it indicates that sampling is configured for the test. It doesn't give the sample quantity by itself. Read Sample Size, Sample Frequency and the percentage together.
What do Each Unit and Each Batch mean for Sample Frequency?
They are examples of Sample Frequency values. The field says when samples are taken, and your account may offer other choices.
What does Measurement Only mean for Evaluation Criteria?
Measurement Only is an Evaluation Criteria value, next to Test Passes Or Fails. Read it with Inspection Results, which says whether the result is Pass/Fail or a measurement. It doesn't prove that a measurement was recorded or that the target and limit fields must be filled.
What are Target Value and the control limits?
They are configured target and limit values associated with the test. In the reviewed account the measurement test had all three and one Pass/Fail test had them too, so don't infer from the result type whether they are filled, and don't assume how they are applied without checking the test setup.
Where do I change a test on an assembly operation?
On the operation's record. Open it under Manufacturing Work Bench and use the Quality / Inspection subtab, where the AM Mfg Work Bench Tests are listed. The report is for viewing and filtering and can't be edited. The Edit action and the fields you can change depend on your permissions.
Why is an assembly missing from the report?
A missing row means only that no matching work bench test was returned under the report's criteria. Check that the assembly has a work bench operation with a test, then check the saved search's criteria, the item filter and what your role can see. A separate Quality Management inspection may exist, but it doesn't appear in this report.
