Record Actual Component Consumption With YieldCraft

Enter actual component quantities after a NetSuite work order completion, create the YieldCraft adjustment, and check the linked transaction.

The quick answer

On a saved Work Order Completion in an account with YieldCraft installed, choose Enter Component Yield. Enter the component quantities you actually used, complete the required inventory detail, and choose Create Adjustment. Back on the completion, check the Yield Inventory Adjustment link. That link is the visible saved result; open the transaction to review its lines and accounting impact.

The screenshots use fictional person and company names. YieldCraft is a Consule Solutions extension, so its controls will not appear on a standard NetSuite Work Order Completion. The extension was not available in the account used to inspect the surrounding NetSuite record layout; the vendor walkthrough supplied the extension screens. Your role, items, and inventory settings may change the detail required.

Before you start

You need an eligible, saved Work Order Completion, YieldCraft configured for that production process, and permission to use its action and view the resulting adjustment. Check the subsidiary, location, accounting period, adjustment-account setup, and available inventory for your own transaction. This example completes 99 lb of a 100 lb mozzarella work order. Keep the actual consumption and inventory assignments from your production records close at hand.

01. Open the completion

Open Work Order Completion WCO1561 and check Completed Quantity: 99. Select Enter Component Yield. If that action is missing, confirm the extension is installed and that your role can use it before following these steps.

Start from the saved completion, then open the extension's component form.

02. Enter actual consumption

The form shows the Required Qty for each component at the completed assembly quantity. Enter the amounts actually consumed. Here, Whole Milk requires 940.5 lb and the operator enters 955 lb. Yield Qty becomes -14.5 lb, because this form calculates required minus actual. The other three rows update the same way.

A negative Yield Qty here means the actual quantity exceeded the required quantity.

03. Assign inventory detail

Choose Enter Inventory Detail on each component line that needs it. For Whole Milk, the form shows a -14.5 difference at the Denver location. Review the location, inventory status, and assignment quantity, then choose OK. Repeat for the other adjusted lines and confirm they show Detail Configured. Depending on the item, location, and enabled features, your account may also require a lot, serial number, or bin. The assigned quantities must reconcile to the adjustment line and available inventory.

Check the assigned location, status, and quantity before saving the detail.

04. Create the adjustment

Review the four calculated differences, then choose Create Adjustment. Wait for processing to finish. On the Work Order Completion, find Yield Inventory Adjustment. In this example it links to Inventory Adjustment #IA789. If the link is absent, the recording does not establish that an adjustment was saved; investigate the extension's response before repeating the action.

The linked adjustment is the saved-result checkpoint shown in the vendor walkthrough.

05. Check the linked record

Open the linked Inventory Adjustment, if your role can access it, and compare the component lines with the consumption and inventory detail you entered. The replay illustrates the four calculated differences, including -14.5 for Whole Milk. The vendor video shows the IA789 link on the completion, but does not show the linked record's full lines. Check those lines in your installed account. For an accounting conclusion, inspect that transaction's approval or posting state and available GL Impact; the link alone does not prove a particular account or amount posted.

IA789 is the linked example; inspect its actual lines and posting in your account.

Check the result

  1. The completion has a Yield Inventory Adjustment link.
  2. The linked transaction's component lines and inventory detail agree with what you entered.
  3. Any accounting conclusion comes from the linked transaction's actual GL Impact and posting state.

Common questions

Is Enter Component Yield a standard NetSuite action?

No. The action and linked yield-adjustment field belong to the configured YieldCraft extension. The resulting Inventory Adjustment is a native NetSuite transaction.

Why is Whole Milk's Yield Qty negative?

This form subtracts actual consumption from required quantity. For Whole Milk, 940.5 minus 955 is -14.5 lb. The negative number means production used more than the form's required amount.

Does the IA789 link mean the material-excess account posted?

The link shows that the completion points to an Inventory Adjustment. It does not establish the linked transaction's GL accounts, values, approval, or posting state. Open that transaction and inspect its GL Impact.

What if a component needs lot, serial, or bin detail?

Fill the inventory assignment required by that item's setup and reconcile its quantity with the adjustment line. The available fields depend on the account and item configuration.
