Find Work Orders Behind Plan with the NetSuite Work Order Production Results Report

Read Plan Qty, Act Qty and % Comp on the Advanced Manufacturing Work Order Production Results report, see what the green rows and status do and do not tell you, and check a short order against its work order.

The quick answer

Open Advanced Manufacturing > Planning Reports > Work Order Production Results and read Plan Qty, Act Qty and % Comp for each work order. Rows at 100.0% or more are green. Do not read status as progress: an order can be In Process at 0.0%, and a Closed order with nothing built stays at 0.0%. Open any order that stops short of 100.0%, because scrapped units are not counted in Act Qty.

The screenshots show sample data. Company, person, work order, item and customer names are fictional. The percentage rounding, the green rule and the way Closed and scrapped quantities are handled were observed in one account, so check them against your own release, role and configuration.

Before you start

You need Advanced Manufacturing and a role that can run its Planning Reports. The report is a saved search over work orders, in Report style. In the account reviewed, Date Last Modified defaulted to this week to date, so the list held only the work orders changed this week, which began on Sunday 10/11/2026, here 10/11/2026 to 10/14/2026, not every open order. This example has 14 such work orders, and 10 older ones that appear when the period is widened.

01. Open the report and read the green rows

Go to Advanced Manufacturing > Planning Reports > Work Order Production Results. The page is AM Work Order Production Results: Results with Total 14. In the account reviewed each row was one work order, ordered by production start date, with Plan Qty, Act Qty and % Comp. In the account reviewed, % Comp was Act Qty divided by Plan Qty, rounded to a whole percent and printed with one decimal. WO3306 plans 10 and has 5 built, so it reads 50.0%.

Three rows are green, WO3309, WO3311 and WO3315, each at 100.0%, and the legend under the table reads Complete. In the account reviewed, every row at or above 100.0% was green. Highlighting belongs to the saved search, so read the legend in your own account.

Three of the 14 work orders are green, and the legend reads Complete.

02. Compare status with % Comp

Status says where an order is in its life cycle, not how much it has built. WO3304 is In Process with 0 of 30 built, so it reads 0.0%, while In Process WO3315 has built all 6 and reads 100.0%. WO3312 is Closed with 0 of 12 built and reads 0.0%, while Closed WO3311 built 40 of 40 and reads 100.0%. In the account reviewed, closing an order did not turn the percentage into 100.0%, so do not assume a Closed order counts as complete.

Two Closed orders: one at 100.0%, one at 0.0% because nothing was built.

03. Find the orders short of plan and check one

Three work orders are short of plan: WO3306 at 50.0%, WO3319 at 67.0% (2 of 3, rounded from 66.7%) and WO3314 at 90.0% (18 of 20). The report has no scrap column, so open WO3314 from the Date Created link on its row.

Three orders below 100.0%: WO3306, WO3314 and WO3319.

The work order shows Quantity 20, Built 18 and Quantity Scrapped 2, still In Process. The two scrapped units are not part of Act Qty, which matched Built on the orders tested, so the report reads 90.0% and never reaches green. In the account reviewed the same held for the one work order with scrapped units that was tested. Orders with several completions, yield or backflush were not tested. Return to the report with Back.

WO3314: 20 planned, 18 built, 2 scrapped.

04. Widen Date Last Modified to All

Open the Date Last Modified field and choose All under Favorites. The From and To dates clear and Total rises to 24. Choosing All removes the modified-date limit; it does not promise every historical order for every role and filter. In the account reviewed the full history ran to hundreds of rows, almost all green. Here the added rows are old and mostly green. WO3231 reads 200.0% because 80 were built against a plan of 40, so % Comp can exceed 100.0%. WO3290 is still In Process at 94.0%, last modified 09/20/2026, an order the default window had hidden.

With Date Last Modified set to All, 24 rows, including an old In Process order at 94.0%.

Check the result

  1. In this sample, the default report lists 14 work orders and three green rows, WO3309, WO3311 and WO3315.
  2. WO3312 is Closed at 0.0% and WO3304 is In Process at 0.0%, while In Process WO3315 is at 100.0%.
  3. WO3314 reads 90.0% because 2 of its 20 units were scrapped; the work order shows Built 18 and Quantity Scrapped 2.
  4. With Date Last Modified set to All the Total is 24, WO3231 reads 200.0% and WO3290 is still In Process at 94.0%.

Common questions

What do Plan Qty, Act Qty and % Comp show?

Plan Qty is the planned quantity of the work order and Act Qty is the quantity built so far. In the account reviewed, % Comp matched Act Qty divided by Plan Qty, rounded to a whole percent and printed with one decimal, so 2 of 3 shows 67.0%, and 12 of 96 (12.5%) printed 13.0% in the full history, so the rounding happens before the decimal is added. Zero planned quantities, decimal quantities and orders with several completions were not tested.

Why are some rows green?

In the account reviewed, rows at or above 100.0% were green and the legend read Complete. The highlighting is part of the saved search, so check its legend in your account. Green is a quantity indicator, not proof that the order is closed.

Why does a Closed work order show 0.0% complete?

In the account reviewed, a Closed work order with nothing built showed 0.0% and was not green. Closing an order changes its status, not the quantity it built. Do not assume a Closed order counts as complete.

Does scrap count toward % Comp?

In the account reviewed, scrapped units were not added to Act Qty: a work order with Quantity 20, Built 18 and Quantity Scrapped 2 showed 90.0%. The report has no scrap column, so open the work order and read Quantity Scrapped when a percentage stops short of 100.0%.

Why does an In Process work order show 0.0% or 100.0%?

Status and quantity are separate. An order can be In Process before anything is completed, and it can be In Process after everything is built but before it is closed or its status is updated.

Can % Comp go above 100 percent?

Yes. In the account reviewed, an order built above plan showed more than 100.0%, for example 80 built against a plan of 40 reads 200.0%, and it was green.

Why is a work order missing from the report?

In the account reviewed, Date Last Modified defaulted to this week to date, so an order that has not changed since Sunday is not listed. Set the field to All, or to a wider period, to find older orders. Other filters such as Location also apply.

How do I find failed work order completions?

The report shows quantities only and has no error column. In the account reviewed, failed or inconsistent completions were logged in a separate list at Advanced Manufacturing > Manufacturing Reports > Work Order Completion Errors (the page is titled AM WO Completion Error List), with a message, the work order, the operation and a type of ERROR or WARNING.

Does the report change any data?

No. It only reads work orders. To change a quantity, correct the completion on the work order (or, for a non-WIP order, the assembly build), then reload the report.
