The quick answer
Go to Reports > Item 360 > Item 360 and pick the item in the Item filter. Item Alerts on Item Overview groups the item's alerts into Supply Allocation, Supply Planning and Order Delay. Expand each one and note the location and the orders it names. Then click Inventory in the left menu and compare, for that location, the stock in Inventory by Location with the open orders in Outbound Transactions and Inbound Transactions. Take the stock on hand, subtract demand in date order and add supply when it's due. Where the balance goes negative, and which supply arrives too late to cover it, points you at the orders to act on. Item 360 only shows the problem. You fix it on the linked transactions or in the planning or allocation process.
The screenshots show sample data. Person and company names are fictional. Use your own item, locations and orders when following the steps.
Before you start
Item 360 is a SuiteApp published by Oracle NetSuite. Once it's installed, it shows up under Reports > Item 360, with Item 360 and Criteria below it. What you see depends on your role: its Item 360 permissions, its access to items and transactions, and at least View access to subsidiaries and locations. Someone with the right permissions sets up Item 360 Criteria and assigns them to roles.
The alerts come from other processes. Supply Planning alerts reflect the last supply planning run, and Supply Allocation alerts come from supply allocation under your account's allocation strategy. If your account doesn't use those features, or your role can't see the qualifying transactions, expect those categories to be empty. Item 360 updates its alert counts with a background process, every 12 hours by default, and an authorized user can run it manually. Refreshing a card doesn't rerun that process, so an alert can lag behind a change you just made.
In this example, Alex Morgan at Example Supply Co. is checking HX-208, a box of 100 hex flange bolts stocked at Tacoma DC and Spokane DC. One of its Tacoma DC sales orders is already late.
01. Open Item 360 for the item
Point to Reports > Item 360 and click Item 360. The other entry, Criteria, is where Item 360 configurations are managed.
Item Overview opens with no item chosen. Item Alerts (0) and an empty Item Information card wait for you to pick one. The Subsidiary and Location pills stay greyed out until you do. Click the Item pill and choose HX-208 from the list. With many items, type the start of the item description in the search box at the top of the list to narrow it.
The title changes to Item Overview : HX-208, and the pills read Item HX-208, Subsidiary All and Location All. Item Information fills in: the description is Hex Flange Bolt, M8 x 30, Zinc - Box of 100, the type is Inventory Item, the preferred location is Tacoma DC and the preferred vendor is Cascade Fastener Co. The alert card now reads Item Alerts (5): Supply Allocation (1), Supply Planning (3) and Order Delay (1).
02. Read the item's alerts
Click Supply Allocation (1) to expand it. The alert reads: Tacoma DC : Supply receipt date of Purchase Order #PO4186 is 11 day(s) later than Expected ship date of Sales Order #SO7715. Supply allocation lined PO4186 up as the supply for SO7715, and it arrives after the order should have shipped. The order numbers are links, so you can open either transaction and check its line dates, quantity and location.
Expand Supply Planning (3) and Order Delay (1) too. Supply Planning reports what the last supply planning run found:
- Tacoma DC : Sales Order #SO7715 is past due by 4 day(s).
- Tacoma DC : Starting on-hand balance is negative from past due orders relative to the planning horizon.
- Tacoma DC : A negative projected balance exists on 09/30/2026 within the planning time fence.
Order Delay has one alert: Tacoma DC : Sales Order SO#SO7715 Shipment is Past Due by 4 day(s).
Five alerts, but they all start with Tacoma DC, and the ones that name orders name SO7715 and PO4186. One transaction can show up in several categories, so five alert messages doesn't mean five separate problems. The alerts say something is wrong. They don't show the quantities, so the next steps go and find them.
03. Check stock at each location
In the left menu, click Inventory. The title changes to Inventory : HX-208, the item selection stays in place, and Inventory by Location is expanded with a Total (Box) row and one row per location.
Read the Tacoma DC row: On Hand 14, Committed 14, Available 0, On Order 105, Total Demand 52 and Overdue Demand 18. Every box on the shelf is already committed, and 18 boxes of demand are overdue. The allocation columns read Allocated 42, Available To Allocate 77 and Unallocated Demand 10. Spokane DC has 9 on hand, 5 committed and 4 available.
These are Item 360's calculated values. Compare them for the same item, location and unit, and don't expect them to match the item record's quantity fields column for column. Committed and Allocated come from different processes, so they don't have to agree either.
04. Find the demand and the supply
Expand Outbound Transactions. It lists open demand with the Expected Ship Date, Location, To, Type, Order #, Status, Quantity and Unit. At Tacoma DC, SO7715 for Harbor View Marine is 18 boxes on 09/21/2026, SO7729 for Summit Rail Services is 24 boxes on 09/30/2026, and SO7736 for Northfork Cabinetry is 10 boxes on 10/06/2026. Those three add up to Tacoma's Total Demand of 52. SO7722 ships 5 boxes from Spokane DC. All four are Pending Fulfillment.
Expand Inbound Transactions. It lists open supply with the Expected Receipt Date and the same kind of columns, with From instead of To. PO4186 from Cascade Fastener Co. brings 60 boxes to Tacoma DC on 10/02/2026, and PO4203 brings 45 more on 10/20/2026. Both are Pending Receipt, and together they make Tacoma's On Order of 105.
05. Reconcile the alerts and pick where to act
Run a simple balance for Tacoma DC, in date order. It won't reproduce Item 360's own logic, which also depends on planning horizons, time fences and allocation rules, but it shows which numbers each alert is about:
- Start with 14 boxes on hand.
- SO7715 needs 18 boxes on 09/21/2026. 14 − 18 = −4, so SO7715 can't ship in full. That fits the Order Delay alert and the past-due and negative starting balance alerts in Supply Planning.
- SO7729 needs 24 boxes on 09/30/2026. −4 − 24 = −28 before any supply arrives. That fits the negative projected balance alert on 09/30/2026.
- PO4186 arrives on 10/02/2026, 11 days after SO7715's ship date of 09/21/2026. That's the gap the Supply Allocation alert reports. Its 60 boxes take the balance from −28 to +32, and +22 after SO7736's 10 boxes on 10/06/2026.
The balance recovers once PO4186 lands. Across these orders, Tacoma has enough supply coming for the demand it has. The supply just arrives too late. A negative number here is a timing shortfall, not an instruction to buy that exact quantity.
Check the result
- Every alert under Item Alerts (5) names Tacoma DC, and each one maps to SO7715, SO7729's date or PO4186.
- Tacoma DC's 14 on hand is less than SO7715's 18 boxes, which matches the Order Delay and past-due alerts.
- 14 − 18 − 24 = −28 by 09/30/2026, which matches the negative projected balance alert.
- PO4186's 10/02/2026 receipt date is 11 days after SO7715's 09/21/2026 ship date, which matches the Supply Allocation alert.
- PO4186's 60 boxes bring the balance back to +32, so the fix is about dates, not a bigger order.
Item 360 doesn't change orders, allocations or plans. Act on the linked transactions instead. Here that means asking Cascade Fastener Co. to expedite PO4186, moving up to 4 available boxes from Spokane DC with a transfer order, or agreeing new ship dates for SO7715 and SO7729. Those 4 boxes would close SO7715's gap of 4, but SO7729 would still be 24 short until PO4186 arrives. A transfer also takes time to ship and receive, so check that it lands before the new ship date. After the change, rerun supply planning or supply allocation where the alert depends on it, then refresh the Item 360 cards. The alert counts can stay stale until the background update runs.
Common questions
What is Item 360 in NetSuite, and where do I find it?
Item 360 is a SuiteApp from Oracle NetSuite that puts one item's alerts, stock by location and open transactions on a single page. Once it's installed, go to Reports > Item 360 > Item 360 and pick the item in the Item filter. What you see depends on your role's Item 360 permissions and its access to items, transactions, subsidiaries and locations.
What do the Supply Allocation, Supply Planning and Order Delay alerts mean?
Supply Allocation says supply may not meet a demand by the date it's needed, such as PO4186 arriving 11 days after SO7715 should have shipped. Supply Planning reports shortfalls found by the last supply planning run, like past-due demand, a negative starting balance or a negative projected balance inside the planning time fence. Order Delay flags orders that are late, such as a sales order whose shipment is past due.
Why does Item 360 say a negative projected balance exists for my item?
Dated demand at that location runs ahead of the supply due by that date. For HX-208 at Tacoma DC, 14 on hand less SO7715's 18 boxes is −4, and SO7729's 24 boxes take it to −28 on 09/30/2026. PO4186's 60 boxes bring it back to +32, but not until 10/02/2026.
Why are my Item 360 alerts out of date after I changed an order?
Alert counts are updated by a background process, every 12 hours by default, and an authorized user can run it manually. Refreshing a card doesn't rerun supply planning or supply allocation either. After you change an order, rerun the process that raised the alert when it needs it, then refresh Item 360.
What's the difference between On Hand, Committed, Available and Available To Allocate?
On Hand is the stock at the location, and Committed is the part already committed to orders. Available is what's left after commitments, so Tacoma DC's 14 on hand and 14 committed leave 0 available. Available To Allocate is supply allocation's own figure for what it can still assign, and it can include supply on order. At Tacoma DC it's 77 while Available is 0.
How do I see all the open purchase orders and sales orders for one item?
Pick the item in Item 360 and click Inventory in the left menu. Outbound Transactions lists open demand like sales orders with their expected ship dates, and Inbound Transactions lists open supply like purchase orders with their expected receipt dates. The order numbers link to the transactions.
Can Item 360 fix a past-due sales order or expedite a purchase order?
No. Item 360 only shows the problem. You make the change on the transaction, for example by expediting PO4186, transferring up to 4 available boxes from Spokane DC, or agreeing new dates for SO7715 and SO7729.
Why does Item Alerts show zero?
It shows Item Alerts (0) until you pick an item. After that, zero can mean the item has no qualifying alerts, the background count hasn't run since the last change, or your role can't see the locations or transactions involved. It also stays empty when your account doesn't use supply planning or supply allocation.
