The quick answer
Open the assigned work-order row in Quality Specification Queue. In Blend Checks, enter the number of samples and defect count, then fill each sample’s measurements and check. Click Record and confirm the band shows Pass. After recording the other required checks, click Finish Inspection and confirm the work order leaves the open queue.
The screenshots use fictional person, company, work-order, item, and lot values. This is one configured Quality Management flow; sample counts, limits, bands, assignment rules, and downstream actions can differ in your account.
Before you start
Use a Quality Engineer role, or a custom role with equivalent write access to the Quality tablet. This example's inspection is already assigned and visible in a data-collection status. Its active specification and work-order context have already placed the inspection in the queue. If your account requires assignment for tablet visibility, confirm it before starting. This example starts with Work Order #WO-814 for MIX-220 Neutral Base at Reno Mixing Plant, using the Blend Quality Check specification.
The example requires two samples, zero defects, viscosity from 6.0 to 7.5, pH from 3.75 to 5.0, and a passing Color Check on each row. Open Field help on your own inspection before entering values; its limits control the result.
01. Open the work-order inspection
In Quality Specification Queue, find the row by Transaction, Specification, and Item, then open it. Confirm that you are working on the right work order. An item receipt may also appear in this queue, but this walkthrough follows an in-process work-order check.
02. Enter the two samples
Expand Blend Checks and open Field help to check the target ranges. Enter Samples Inspected = 2 and Defect Count = 0. The tablet shows two numbered rows in Inspection Sample Data.
Enter Viscosity 7.1 and pH Test 4.5 for sample 1. Enter Viscosity 7.2 and pH Test 4.3 for sample 2. Select Color Check on both rows. Review the summary and both rows before clicking Record; a blank second row is not a complete two-sample inspection.
03. Record and finish
Click Record. The Blend Checks band turns green and reads Pass. If a value is missing or out of range, correct the reading and record again. Enter the remaining required Blender Settings and Inspection Notes in this example. Photo Image is optional here; your own specification may differ.
When the required bands have passed, click Finish Inspection. The tablet returns to Quality Specification Queue without this inspection's Work Order #WO-814 row. Other open inspections remain. This shows the inspection no longer appears in the engineer’s open tablet queue; it does not prove that the work order or inventory was released.
Check the result
- Blend Checks displays Pass in a green band.
- The other required bands are recorded.
- The completed inspection’s work-order row is absent from the open Quality Specification Queue. Check its final quality record and any separate inventory disposition as needed.
Common questions
Why can’t I record the inspection?
Check that you have a Quality Engineer role or equivalent tablet write permission. Then check assignment if your queue requires it, the tablet filters, the inspection’s data-collection status, and the active specification. A role warning or empty queue does not identify the cause by itself.
Why does the blend check fail even though one sample is in range?
This specification evaluates each required sample row. Check the configured sample minimum, Samples Inspected, the defect count, both viscosity and pH values, and each Color Check. Open Field help for your actual limits and confirm that you clicked Record.
Does leaving the open queue prove every quality follow-up is complete?
No. It shows that the inspection is no longer in this engineer’s open tablet queue. Check the inspection record’s final status and any separate disposition or production controls your organization uses.
