The quick answer
On Create a Wave, keep the location and Sales Order, select Search, set Picking Type to Multiple Orders, select both orders and save a Released wave. Open the saved wave's Pick Tasks tab to see one task for the combined quantity. In the SCM Mobile app, choose WMS, the warehouse, Picking > Multi - Order Picking. Select Wave shows the wave with 2 orders and 1 task, and Select Pick Task shows the item with an Orders count of 2.

Before you start
The account needs NetSuite WMS and the SCM Mobile app, a bin-managed warehouse, approved and committed sales orders that are not on another wave, enough inventory of the item in a bin, a manager who can create waves and read pick tasks, and a picker who can open waves.
Here two orders, SO-41208 for 26 and SO-41215 for 14, ask for the same item, FLT-330 air filter. The single task, the bin and the draft defaults are what this example produced. Whether two orders become one task depends on compatible lines and on your pick strategy, bins, inventory, units and Apply Pick Decomposition setting, so read the Pick Tasks tab of your own wave before you send it to a picker. A wave can also default to Pending Release, depending on your WMS preferences. Labels and columns change with the release, so match each screen by its title.
01. Open Create a Wave and find the orders
Open the WMS outbound Create a Wave page. Your account may offer it under Transactions or in global search. Confirm the page is Wave Criteria. Keep the Location, here Cedarbrook Depot, and set Transaction Type to Sales Order. The filters below only narrow the orders shown, and none are needed here. Select Search. The draft Wave opens with the candidate orders. Nothing is released yet.
02. Choose Multiple Orders, select both orders and save
Open the Picking Type list. It offers Bulk Picking, Multiple Orders and Single Order. Single Order keeps each order line in its own task. Multiple Orders combines similar items across orders, and the handheld still shows which order each quantity belongs to. Bulk Picking combines the item quantity so the picker enters it once. Choose Multiple Orders.
On Orders, select SO-41208 and SO-41215. Selecting an order selects its lines, so open Line Items when only some lines should go on the wave. Summary shows 2 orders, 2 line items and a total quantity of 40. Keep Status on Released. If your account uses larger picking units, review Apply Pick Decomposition before you save, because it can change the units and the number of tasks. Select Save.
03. Confirm the saved wave
The page confirms the wave was saved. Read Picking Type, Multiple Orders, and Status, Released. In Summary, Line Items Released is 2 and Line Items Failed is 0. Resolve any failures before you continue.
Open Pick Tasks. One task for FLT-330 air filter shows 40 Eaches(1), the recommended bin B2-05 and the status Ready. Two orders became one task. The recommended bin comes from availability and your pick strategy, and the picker may be able to choose another eligible bin. Summary counts line items, so this tab is where you check the task count.
04. Open the wave on SCM Mobile
Pickers normally open SCM Mobile on their device. In an account that offers it, Setup > Custom > Mobile - App opens the same app in the browser. On Select Application, choose WMS. On Select Warehouse, choose Cedarbrook Depot. On Main Menu, choose Picking.
The Picking menu has no tile for each picking type. Waves of the Multiple Orders and Bulk Picking types are opened from Multi - Order Picking. Your release may read Multi-order Picking. Choose it.
With Show Released Waves on, Select Wave lists wave 352 with 2 orders and 1 task. Select it.
05. Read the consolidated task
Select Pick Task lists one row: FLT-330 air filter, bin B2-05, 2 orders and 40 Eaches(1). The picker takes one trip to the shelf for both orders. Working the task is the next step. On the quantity pages the picker enters the amount for each order, 26 for one and 14 for the other.
Check the result
- The saved wave reads Multiple Orders and Released with 2 line items released and 0 failed.
- Pick Tasks shows one task for 40 Eaches(1) in the status Ready.
- Select Wave shows the wave with 2 orders and 1 task, and Select Pick Task shows an Orders count of 2.
Common questions
What is the difference between Multiple Orders, Bulk Picking and Single Order?
Single Order creates a task for each order line. Multiple Orders combines similar items across orders where the lines are compatible, and the handheld identifies the order and asks for its quantity. Bulk Picking combines the item quantity, and the picker enters the consolidated quantity once while WMS distributes it to the orders.
Why does my Multiple Orders wave show more than one task?
Consolidation depends on the lines. Different bins, available inventory, units, item types, your pick strategy and Apply Pick Decomposition can all split the quantity into more tasks. Read the Pick Tasks tab before you send the wave to a picker.
Where is the Multiple Orders tile on SCM Mobile?
There is no tile for each picking type. Open Picking > Multi - Order Picking, and released waves of the Multiple Orders and Bulk Picking types appear on Select Wave.
Does saving the wave pick or fulfill anything?
Saving creates pick tasks for the selected lines. With a Released wave and successful task generation they are Ready, which means the work is waiting for a picker. Picking comes next. In a bin-managed warehouse the picker then stages the quantity, and WMS creates or updates the item fulfillment according to your fulfillment preference. Packing and shipping follow.
What if my wave is saved as Pending Release?
The draft status follows your WMS preferences. A Pending Release wave can have pending tasks, and pickers do not see Ready work until the wave is released. Check the status on the draft before you save.
What does the Orders column on Select Pick Task show?
The number of orders the consolidated task serves. Columns and labels can vary by release and setup.
