How to preview WMS cycle count plan rows in NetSuite

Display a WMS cycle count plan’s eligible item/bin rows and select the intended combination before release.

The quick answer

Open Generate Cycle Count from Plan, choose a saved plan, and click Display. Review each item and bin together, then check Select for the combinations you intend to count. Stop before Generate and Release if you only want to review and prepare the selection. Display does not create an inventory count.

North Warehouse plans to count Rotor Coupling in N-01-01. The plan returns the same item in two bins. This walkthrough selects the first bin and leaves N-01-05 unselected. No inventory count is created or released. Person and operating-company names in the screenshots are fictional example data.

Before you start

Use an account with NetSuite WMS cycle counting configured. Oracle’s documented desktop workflow uses the WMS Warehouse Manager role; page access depends on the role and enabled WMS features. You need a saved plan with valid subsidiary, location, item, bin and variance-account settings. The example uses ordinary bin-managed inventory with eligible stock in both bins.

Account preferences that make Department or Class mandatory also apply to cycle count plans. Confirm those required plan values before proceeding.

The saved plan has Use Item Frequency cleared and no default assignee. Both generation dates remain blank. If your plan uses item frequency, review its next-count-date criteria before applying the same date choices.

01 · Review the saved plan

Open North aisle cycle count in WMS Cycle Count Plans. Confirm Northstar Holdings, North Warehouse, and Account: Inventory Variance. Leave the plan unchanged.

Under Items, confirm that RT-2208 is selected and Use Item Frequency is clear. This plan does not filter its items by next count date; its other filters still apply.

Use Item Frequency is clear on the saved plan.

Under Bins, confirm N-01-01 and N-01-05. A bin filter works with the plan’s item filters; it does not include every item stored in those bins.

The plan includes these two bin filters.

02 · Display the candidate rows

In Global Search, enter page: generate cycle. The inspected account returns WMS CycleCount Generate and Release Plan DI, which opens Generate Cycle Count from Plan. Page names and access depend on your role and installed WMS bundle.

Choose North aisle cycle count in Plan Number. Leave Count Start Date and Count End Date blank for this plan, then click Display.

Choose the plan and leave Count End Date blank. The full screen also shows a blank Count Start Date.

Review the Items sublist. It shows RT-2208 Rotor Coupling in N-01-01 and N-01-05. Check each bin, item, display name and description. Verify the Select boxes are clear before making your choice.

Assigned To is blank because this plan has no default employee. Another plan may prefill it. Display has returned candidate rows; it has not created an inventory count.

03 · Select the intended item and bin

Check Select for RT-2208 in N-01-01. Leave the N-01-05 row clear. Selecting one row does not select every bin containing the same item.

One item/bin row is selected. Generate and Release remains untouched.

Confirm exactly one row is selected, then stop. Generate and Release remains untouched. The selection is an unsaved preparation state. Count creation, release, assignment and starting have not occurred.

Common questions

Why does the same item appear in two rows?

Each row pairs an item with a bin. RT-2208 appears separately for N-01-01 and N-01-05. Select the combination you intend to count.

Does Display create or start a count?

No. Display returns candidate rows. Selecting a row prepares it for the later Generate and Release action. This walkthrough stops before that action.

What changes when Use Item Frequency is clear?

The plan does not restrict items by their next count dates. Location, item, bin and other plan filters still apply. This example also leaves both generation dates blank.

Why is Assigned To blank?

The example plan has no default employee. A plan with a default assignee may populate Assigned To when you display its rows. The blank field here does not prevent reviewing and selecting candidates.

Why is an expected item or bin missing?

Review the plan filters, the item’s on-hand quantity at the plan’s location, and its bin settings. Check next count dates when the plan uses item frequency. The zero-quantity bin option can also affect which rows are eligible.

Does selecting one bin select every row for that item?

No. The two rows have separate Select boxes. In this example, checking N-01-01 leaves N-01-05 clear.

Is this selection saved as part of the plan?

Treat it as preparation on the current preview page. It does not update the saved plan or create an inventory count. If you reopen or refresh the page, display the rows again and verify your selection.
