The quick answer
In the SCM Mobile app, open WMS, choose the warehouse, then Picking > Single Order Picking > Released Orders > Sales Order, and select the order. For each pick task, confirm the recommended bin on Enter Bin, confirm the item on Enter Item, and enter the quantity with its unit and inventory status on Enter Quantity. Choose Next Pick Task on Pick Task Complete until no tasks are left, then enter an outbound staging bin on Enter Staging Bin. Staging Complete lists what was staged, and the order drops off Select Order because it has no open pick work left.
The screenshots show sample data. Person and operating-company names are fictional. Use your own records and values when following the steps.
Before you start
The account needs NetSuite WMS with the SCM Mobile app, a warehouse location that uses bins for this flow, a Pending Fulfillment sales order with committed stock and no blocking condition such as a hold, released on a Single Order wave, and outbound staging bins. The picker needs access to the SCM Mobile app, the WMS picking process, the warehouse location, and the picking and staging operations. Exact permissions depend on the role and the account, so test with the role your pickers actually use.
This example uses two items that are not lot or serial controlled and no cartons, so you will not see lot, serial number or carton pages. Tally scanning, zone picking, partial quantities with Bin Empty and barcode aliases change the flow in other setups. A pick strategy is not required for Single Order Picking. When one applies it can influence the recommended bin; otherwise WMS uses its standard bin-selection logic. Page names, buttons and columns can also vary with the SCM Mobile release, so match each screen by its title.
01. Check the released sales order
Open the sales order. This one, SO-62831 for Cobalt Ridge Hardware, is Pending Fulfillment and its location is Harbor Point. On the Items tab it has two lines, GLV-410 for 6 Each and TAP-230 for 2 Case, and both lines show a committed quantity. Because the order was released, the mobile device shows two open pick tasks for it, one per line in this example. A wave can split a line into more tasks, so count the tasks on the device rather than assuming one per line.
02. Open Single Order Picking
Pickers normally open SCM Mobile on their device. In an account that offers it, Setup > Custom > Mobile - App opens the same app in the browser; the Mobile - Applications page under that menu is where administrators configure the apps. On Select Application, choose WMS. If the user can access more than one warehouse, Select Warehouse appears; choose the warehouse, here Harbor Point. On Main Menu, choose Picking, then Single Order Picking. On Select Picking Mode, choose Released Orders, because the order already has its pick tasks. On Select Order Type, choose Sales Order.
03. Select the order and read its pick tasks
Select Order lists released orders with their customers and, in this example, a task count. SO-62831 shows 2 tasks, and SO-62874 and SO-62889 show 1 each. Columns and counts depend on the account and release, so the task list on the next page is the authority. Select SO-62831.
Select Pick Task lists the order's tasks by bin, item and quantity. Both tasks here come from bin B3-RK-07: GLV-410 for 6 Each(1) and TAP-230 for 2 Case(1). Select the GLV-410 task. Do not assume one task per order line in your own account; count the rows.
04. Confirm the bin and the item
Enter Bin shows the Recommended Bin, B3-RK-07, and, where the page displays it, the quantity it holds. The recommendation is a suggestion. Select the bin to continue; if you scan or type it instead, choose Enter Bin. Show all bins lists other bins that hold the item if you need to pick from somewhere else. Take the recommended bin unless the stock is physically elsewhere.
Enter Item shows Item to Pick, GLV-410, with its description. Select the item to continue; if you scan or type it instead, choose Enter Item. The app checks that you are taking the right item.
05. Enter the quantity, unit and inventory status
Enter Quantity shows Quantity Remaining in the transaction unit, 6 Each(1). Set the unit before you type the number. The unit list uses the item's configured units and conversion rates and offers Eaches(1), Cases(8Ea) and Pallets(96Ea) here; keep Eaches(1) because the task is in Each, and enter 6. If you pick in a larger unit, check the conversion first, because the number you type is read in the unit you selected.
Here Inventory Status is a list, because the Inventory Status feature is on and the bin holds stock in more than one status. Available Quantity shows 76 Good and 7 Damaged, so keep Good and the order gets Good stock. Choose Enter Quantity.
06. Move on to the next pick task
Pick Task Complete says pick task 318 is complete and offers Go To Staging and Next Pick Task. Go To Staging stages the quantities you have already picked, including a finished task on its own, subject to your WMS rules and permissions. Finish the tasks that belong together first, so choose Next Pick Task.
Select Pick Task now lists only the TAP-230 task and shows a Go To Staging button for the task you already picked. Select the TAP-230 task and repeat the bin and item steps. On Enter Quantity, Quantity Remaining shows 2 Case(1) and the unit already shows Cases(1). Inventory Status shows Good as plain text here, because only one status applies to this stock. Enter 2 and choose Enter Quantity.
07. Stage the picked stock
With no tasks left, the app opens Enter Staging Bin. Turn on Show all bins to list the eligible staging bins. In this example the list also shows a quantity for each bin, and the names are examples: two pack-station bins and three shipping lanes. Your columns and bin names can differ. Select PACK-STG-A, which submits it; if you scan or type the bin instead, choose Enter Staging Bin.
Staging Complete confirms the staging to PACK-STG-A and summarizes what was staged: SO-62831 with GLV-410 for 6 Eaches(1) and TAP-230 for 2 Cases(1). The exact summary and columns vary. Staging moves the picked stock to the outbound bin. It is not packing or shipping.
08. Confirm the order left the list
Choose Next Order. Select Order now lists only SO-62874 and SO-62889. SO-62831 is gone because its pick work has been completed and staged. That tells you the order has nothing left to pick. It does not tell you that an item fulfillment exists or that the order is packed or shipped, so open the order and check its pick tasks and fulfillment in NetSuite.
Check the result
- Staging Complete summarized both items against the staging bin you chose.
- Select Order no longer lists the order.
- In NetSuite, the order's pick tasks show their completed status, typically Done after staging, and WMS creates or updates the fulfillment according to your fulfillment-creation preference, which can be asynchronous and per order or per order line.
Common questions
What is the difference between Next Pick Task and Go To Staging?
Next Pick Task returns to the task list so you can pick the remaining tasks before staging. Go To Staging stages the quantities already picked, including previously completed or partly picked tasks, and it does not pick tasks you have not worked. Finish the tasks that should be staged together before you choose Go To Staging.
Does a pick task exist for every order line?
Do not assume one pick task per order line. A single-order wave often creates one per line, but pick decomposition, source bins, zones, lots, serial numbers and partial quantities can produce more task rows or leave some remaining. Count the rows on Select Pick Task, and remember that completed tasks may be hidden depending on the Show Fully Picked Tasks switch.
How does the unit of measure list work?
The list comes from the item's units type and its conversion rates, so Cases and Pallets appear only when they are set up for that item. Quantity Remaining starts in the transaction unit. If the item has several units you can change the unit; choose it before you enter the number and confirm the conversion, because the number is read in the unit you chose.
When is Inventory Status a list instead of text?
When the Inventory Status feature is enabled and more than one eligible status applies, the app provides a selector, such as Good and Damaged. With one applicable status it can show the status as plain text. The behavior depends on the feature, the item, the inventory, the task and the mobile configuration.
Why did the order disappear from Select Order?
Select Order lists the orders available to the Released Orders flow you chose. Once an order has no remaining selectable work, it can drop off the list. That does not prove an item fulfillment exists. WMS creates or updates the fulfillment according to your fulfillment-creation preference, and fulfillment generation or bulk staging can be asynchronous when a preference, system rule or processing threshold applies. Check the order, its pick tasks and the item fulfillment before you treat it as fulfilled.
Does staging ship the order?
No. Staging moves the picked stock into an outbound staging bin, such as a pack station. Packing and shipping are separate steps. The fulfillment is normally created with Picked status; if the Manually pack orders? system rule is inactive, WMS can create it with Packed status instead.
What does a picker need to do this?
The account needs WMS and SCM Mobile, a warehouse location that uses bins for this flow, a released Single Order wave, committed stock and staging bins. The picker needs access to the SCM Mobile app, the WMS picking process, the warehouse location, and the picking and staging operations. Exact permissions depend on the role and account, so test with the role your pickers actually use.
