How to trace why a NetSuite wave is still In Progress from its pick task

Open a wave that is still In Progress, drill from its Pick Tasks tab into the pick task, reconcile the picked quantities per order, read Synchronization Complete, and see what the wave is still waiting for.

The quick answer

Open the wave, open its pick task from the Pick Tasks tab, and read Total Picked Quantity and Total Remaining Quantity, then each line's Status and Synchronization Complete on the Line Items subtab. In the example the task has 70 picked and 0 remaining, so nothing is left to pick, and the two order lines each show 35 picked. The task itself is still In Progress and its lines read Picked rather than Done, which is why the wave is still open. The source video gives a different reason, that the orders are not yet packed and shipped, and this guide does not settle between the two.

The example is wave 58 at Reno Warehouse, a Bulk Picking wave of the Sales Order type for orders SO3310 and SO3311, both for Redwood Fabrication and both for 35 BR-210. The company, user, customer, item and numbers are fictional and independent of any real account.

Before you start

This is a read-only walkthrough of records that already exist. It follows a short source video that tours one wave record and its pick task. It never clicks Match and this guide does not either: the video describes the Match button on the wave and on the pick task as the way to reconcile quantities when a pick task has drifted from its wave, but it does not say that this task has, and NetSuite's expert answers do not confirm that description, so nothing here establishes what Match would change.

01 · Open the wave

Choose Recent Records and open Wave #58. Read the wave's Status, which is In Progress, its Picking Type, Bulk Picking, and its Location, Reno Warehouse. The Summary shows Line Items Released 2, Failed 0 and Selected 2, and the Orders tab lists SO3310 and SO3311.

Wave 58 is In Progress with 2 line items released and 0 failed.

02 · Find the pick task

Click the Pick Tasks tab. The wave has one pick task, 96, for BR-210 with quantity 70, units EA, recommended bin 1A1B, picker Jordan Pierce and status In Progress. Click 96 to open it.

The wave's only pick task is 96, In Progress.

03 · Read the pick task totals

Pick Task 96 is In Progress and belongs to Wave # 58. Under Pick Information, Total Picked Quantity is 70 and Total Remaining Quantity is 0, with the Assigned Picker and the Recommended Bin beside them. The totals add up the task's line items, so 70 picked and none remaining says that all the picking on this task is done.

Total Picked Quantity 70 and Total Remaining Quantity 0.

04 · Reconcile the lines

On the Line Items subtab, read the two lines. SO3310 and SO3311 each show Quantity 35, Picked Quantity 35 and Remaining Quantity 0, with Status Picked, so 35 + 35 equals the 70 above and no picking is missing. Both lines read Synchronization Complete No and Allow Retry No, and neither has a Transaction Number, Staging Bin or End Date yet. Do not click Match.

The narrator describes Synchronization Complete as the place where a pick task that has drifted from its wave shows up. He does not call this task out of step, and NetSuite's expert answers do not confirm that description, so this guide does not claim what No means for a task with nothing remaining, whether it is a fault, whether it changes by itself, or what Match would change. Allow Retry is associated with retrying a failed fulfillment creation: in the production account a Failed line with a failure message read Yes. Its full meaning when it reads No is not documented, so do not infer anything from it. In a production account checked on 10/14/2026 the fully picked pick tasks in In Progress waves read Synchronization Complete Yes, so the No state was not seen there. Look at your own pick tasks before you read anything into it.

Both lines are picked 35 of 35, with Synchronization Complete No.

05 · Return to the wave

Click the Wave # link, 58. The wave Status is still In Progress, and so is its only pick task, whose lines read Picked rather than Staged or Done with no Transaction Number, Staging Bin or End Date. NetSuite's guidance, checked with its expert answers, is that a wave becomes Complete when all of its pick tasks are completed, and that a Picked line may still need staging and fulfillment generation. In the production account checked on 10/14/2026 the Done lines carried a Staging Bin, an item fulfillment as Transaction Number and an End Date, which is the contrast to look for. The narrator in the source video gives a different reason, that the orders are picked but not yet packed and shipped. The orders were not opened in the recording, so check the pick task's own status and the order's status in your account.

Wave 58 is still In Progress.

Check the result

  1. Pick task totals: 70 picked and 0 remaining.
  2. Lines: SO3310 and SO3311 are each picked 35 of 35 with Status Picked, which adds up to the task total.
  3. Wave and task: the wave is still In Progress and so is its pick task, whose lines read Picked rather than Done.

Common questions

Why is my wave still In Progress when everything has been picked?

Because the pick task is not finished. Here its status is still In Progress and its lines read Picked, not Staged or Done, with no Transaction Number, Staging Bin or End Date. NetSuite's guidance, checked with its expert answers, is that a wave becomes Complete when all of its pick tasks are completed, and that a Picked line may still need staging and fulfillment generation. The narrator in the source video says instead that the wave stays open until the orders are packed and shipped. Check the pick task's status and the orders' status in your account to see which applies.

Where do I see how much of a wave has been picked?

On the wave's Pick Tasks tab open each pick task. Its Pick Information shows Total Picked Quantity and Total Remaining Quantity, and its Line Items subtab shows the picked and remaining quantity of each order line.

What do Total Picked Quantity and Total Remaining Quantity add up?

The pick task's line items. In the example 35 + 35 is 70 picked and 0 remaining. Reconcile the per-order picked quantities with the total before concluding anything about the task.

What does Synchronization Complete mean on a pick task line?

The source video describes it as the place where a pick task that has drifted from its wave shows up, with the Match button reconciling the quantities, and NetSuite's expert answers do not confirm that description. This guide does not establish what No means for a task with nothing remaining, whether it changes by itself, or what Match would change, and it never clicks Match. The fully picked tasks checked in a production account on 10/14/2026 read Yes, so look at your own pick tasks first.

Should I click Match when Synchronization Complete says No?

This guide does not say. The source video describes Match as reconciling quantities when a pick task has drifted from its wave and does not click it, and nothing here shows what it would change on a task with 0 remaining. Understand the state first, and check with your administrator before you use it.

How do I open a pick task from a wave record?

Click the wave's Pick Tasks tab and click the pick task number. Its record opens with Primary Information, Pick Information, Classification and the Line Items subtab.

What do the Picked, Staged and Done statuses on a pick task line mean?

Picked means the picker has finished picking that line. Reported next statuses are Staged and then Done. Packing and shipping are fulfillment steps and are not pick task line statuses. In the production account the Done lines had a Staging Bin, an item fulfillment and an End Date, and these Picked lines have none of them yet.

What is the Inventory Detail icon on a pick task line?

It opens the lot or serial number, bin, status and quantity that were picked for that line. It is not part of this walkthrough.
