Use Transactions > Inventory > Bin Transfer to move lot-numbered stock between bins at one location. Enter the item and quantity, then use Inventory Detail to assign the exact lot, source bin, destination bin and status. Match the detail quantity to the item line, save, and reopen the saved assignment to verify the recorded movement.
This example moves eight Each of LT-450 seal kit, lot LOT-2026-041, from BULK-04 to PICK-09 at Central Distribution. Both status fields remain Good. Alex Morgan and Example Supply Co. are fictional person and operating-company names.
Before you start
Your account needs the applicable Advanced Bin / Numbered Inventory Management and lot-numbered inventory features, an item configured to use bins at the location, eligible source and destination bins at that location, and permission to enter a Bin Transfer. A Bin Transfer requires the lot to be recorded in its source bin; it does not initially assign unbinned stock. Confirm that LOT-2026-041 has at least eight eligible units in BULK-04 at Central Distribution. Status fields appear when Inventory Status is enabled. Both statuses must be valid for the movement. This example preserves Good; confirm its availability settings in your account before using it.
1. Enter the location, item and quantity
Go to Transactions > Inventory > Bin Transfer. Select Central Distribution, confirm the location’s associated subsidiary in OneWorld, and confirm the transaction date. In Items, select LT-450 seal kit and enter 8. If Multiple Units of Measure is enabled, select the intended unit; this example uses Each before opening Inventory Detail. A preferred-bin display does not assign the source bin for this transfer.
2. Assign the lot and bins
Open Inventory Detail. Select LOT-2026-041, set From Bins to BULK-04 and To Bins to PICK-09 as shown (labels can vary by form). Retain Good in From Status and To Status when those fields are present and the status is valid, and enter 8 as the assignment quantity. Add the assignment if your dialog requires it. Confirm that the detail total equals the item-line quantity before choosing OK.
If the lot, source bin or required eligible quantity is unavailable, resolve the discrepancy before continuing. Do not substitute another lot to make the form save.
3. Save the transfer
Commit the item line with Add, then select Save. On the saved Bin Transfer, check Central Distribution, LT-450 seal kit, Each and quantity 8. The reviewed example saved as BINT208; transaction numbers vary by account and numbering setup.
4. Reopen the saved assignment
With view access to the saved transaction, open Inventory Detail on the saved line. Its control may appear as an icon rather than an editable button. Confirm LOT-2026-041, source BULK-04, destination PICK-09, Good in both status fields, and quantity 8. The saved detail establishes what this transaction recorded. For current destination-bin availability, run the relevant bin inventory inquiry separately and account for other warehouse activity.
A Bin Transfer is nonposting and stays within one location. Use the appropriate inventory transfer or transfer-order workflow when stock moves between locations.
Common questions
Can a Bin Transfer move stock between locations?
A Bin Transfer stays within one location. Use the applicable inventory transfer or transfer-order process for movement between locations.
What must be available before transferring a lot?
The item and location must support bins, both bins must be eligible for that location, and the selected lot must already have sufficient eligible quantity in the source bin. The example requires eight units of LOT-2026-041 in BULK-04 at Central Distribution.
Why must Inventory Detail match the line quantity?
Inventory Detail assigns the units entered on the item line. For this transfer, the lot, bin and status assignments must total eight Each. Resolve a shortage or mismatch before saving instead of selecting another lot to complete the form.
Does the saved transfer prove the destination’s current available balance?
It proves the movement recorded on that transaction. Reopen the saved assignment to verify the lot, bins, status and quantity, then use a separate inventory inquiry for current availability, including other warehouse activity.
