Generate and Complete a Forward-Pick Replenishment in NetSuite WMS

Turn a visible 36-unit forward-pick shortage into three replenishment tasks, then complete one 12-unit move in NetSuite WMS mobile.

The quick answer

Forward-pick bin PICK-08 has 4 units on hand against a minimum of 20 and maximum of 40. Display the VC-620 line, then generate and release the work. In this synthetic replay, WMS divides the 36-unit gap into three tasks of 12 Each(1). Complete one move from RES-24 to PICK-08, then return to the queue and confirm that two tasks remain.

The screenshots use sample data. Person and operating-company names are fictional. Use your own records and values when following the steps.

Before you start

The account needs NetSuite WMS. The selected location must be configured as a WMS warehouse with bins enabled, and the item must be active and available there. The destination bin must be configured for WMS replenishment for that item and location, with saved minimum, maximum, replenishment quantity, and any round-quantity rule the account uses. The source bin must contain at least 12 units eligible for this task in the required unit, inventory status, and lot or serial detail. This example moves 12 units in Good status from RES-24.

The example uses a role named WMS Warehouse Manager, but another standard or customized role can have the same access. The mobile operator needs access to the location and released replenishment tasks. Assignments can limit which operator sees a task, and account configuration can add prompts that this example does not show. This guide ends at task completion; it does not prove the resulting bin balances were independently reconciled.

01. Display the eligible bin

Open Generate Replenishment under WMS Inventory. Leave Reno DC as the location, enter VC-620 in the Item field, and choose Display.

Read the returned line before marking it. In this example, bin PICK-08 at Reno DC shows 4.0 under Bin Quantity On Hand, below the Minimum Quantity of 20. The Maximum Quantity is 40, the Replenishment Quantity is 12, and the Open Replenishment Quantity is 0.0, so no open replenishment quantity is currently associated with this line. If it was processed before, check task status before generating more work. The difference between 4 and 40 is 36; that is the gap the mobile queue later divides into three 12-unit tasks. The page does not name a source bin or final task count. If these values do not match the saved item and bin setup, stop and inspect the setup before releasing tasks.

PICK-08 has 4.0 on hand against a minimum of 20 and maximum of 40; the replenishment setting is 12.

02. Generate and release the tasks

Mark only the intended VC-620 line in the Generate column and choose Generate & Release. Wait for the confirmation that replenishment tasks were generated successfully for the selected items.

Minimum, maximum, replenishment quantity, round-quantity rules, eligible stock, and account setup decide how many tasks NetSuite creates and how large each one is. Read the task quantities in the released mobile queue instead of assuming the whole shortage becomes one task.

The confirmation means the marked line was generated and released for mobile work.

03. Select a released mobile task

Open Mobile Emulator → Mobile Screen, choose WMS, then the Reno DC warehouse. From the Main Menu open Inventory, then Replenishment.

The queue lists three VC-620 tasks of 12 Each(1) to PICK-08. In this recording, the 36-unit gap became three 12-unit tasks. Select the first task. Different setup, eligible stock, or open work can produce different quantities in another account, so use the quantity and destination displayed for the task you select.

If the expected tasks are missing, confirm that the line was released, that the operator can access the location, and that the tasks are not assigned to someone else. Do not choose a similar task based only on the item name.

Match the item, task quantity, and destination before opening a task.

04. Confirm the stock movement

At Enter From Bin, this replay names RES-24 as the Recommended Bin with 70 Each(1) available. Scan or enter RES-24 and choose Enter Bin. In another account, use the recommended or otherwise eligible source shown for the selected task; allocation rules, bin sequence, inventory status, and available stock can change it.

Confirm the recommended source bin before identifying the item and quantity.

On Enter Item, scan or enter VC-620 and check the Item to Replenish and Item Description (Valve cap) before choosing Enter Item.

Match the scanned item to the item named on the replenishment task.

At Enter Quantity, the Quantity to Move shows 12 Each(1) for the selected task. Enter 12, leave the unit as Each, and check the Inventory Status (Good in this example). Complete any lot or serial prompts if the account presents them.

Enter the quantity actually moved and compare it with the quantity to move.

At Enter To Bin, scan or enter the Expected Bin, PICK-08, then choose Enter To Bin. Do not substitute another bin because it happens to hold the same item. Wait for the task-complete message.

Match the entered destination to the task's expected bin before completing the move.

05. Check the task outcome

Confirm that WMS mobile shows Replenishment task completed successfully. The success follows the prompts for source RES-24, item VC-620, quantity 12 Each(1), and destination PICK-08.

Treat the task-complete message as confirmation of this movement, not as a reconciled bin-balance report.

Check the result

  1. The mobile app reports the replenishment task completed successfully.
  2. The source bin, item, quantity, and destination confirmed in the preceding prompts match the intended movement.
  3. This guide does not independently verify ending bin balances or completion of the remaining tasks.

In this replay, choose Next Task to return to Select Replenishment Tasks. The completed task is gone and the two remaining 12 Each(1) tasks for VC-620 are still listed. Continue with them, or open the item and bin inventory when the exact stock position matters; the shorter queue does not show a reconciled ending balance.

After Next Task, two of the three generated tasks remain in the queue.

Common questions

Why is a bin eligible when the warehouse still has reserve stock?

Replenishment evaluates the configured destination bin, not total stock across every bin. In this example, PICK-08 has 4.0 on hand, below its minimum of 20, while the location holds 74 in total. The reserve stock in RES-24 is what the task moves.

Why did one bin line generate three tasks?

The page shows the settings, not the final task split. In this replay, 4 on hand against a maximum of 40 left a 36-unit gap, and the mobile queue showed three tasks of 12. Different setup, eligible stock, or open work can change the count and size, so read the generated queue.

Why is the replenishment line or mobile task missing?

Check the location and item filters, the destination's replenishment setup, and whether the source has enough eligible available quantity. For a missing mobile task, also confirm that the line was generated and released, the operator can access Reno DC, and the task is not assigned to someone else.

Should the operator always enter 12?

No. Twelve is the quantity to move on the selected VC-620 task. Use the quantity displayed for the task you selected and record the amount actually moved, including any account-specific status, lot, serial, or unit prompts.

What does Next Task show after completion?

In this replay, Next Task returns to Select Replenishment Tasks, where two 12-unit tasks remain. The shorter queue supports that one task left the active list; it does not reconcile ending bin balances.

What does the mobile success message confirm?

It confirms that the selected replenishment task completed successfully. It does not establish the ending balances in PICK-08 or RES-24, or prove that the other two tasks were completed.
