The quick answer
On a new Count Configuration, choose a public saved search in Saved Search for Item List, enter a Count Reason, select one or more locations, and save. Choose an Account only when no default inventory count account is set in accounting preferences. Then check the saved record to make sure it retained the search and settings. You can open the form from Setup > Smart Count > Count Configuration.
The example creates West Weekly Count for an existing Weekly Components search. It saves the configuration only. Generated tasks, mobile item and bin rows, completed counts, and inventory adjustments are separate checks. The person and operating-company names in the screenshots are fictional example data.
Before you start
Use a OneWorld account with Smart Count's required features enabled. Install the SCM Mobile SuiteApp before installing the Smart Count SuiteApp. Complete mobile setup before counting on a mobile device. An Administrator or Smart Count Inventory Manager can create custom Count Configuration records. The role also needs access to the saved search and relevant records and locations.
Have a public saved search ready. Supported search types are Item, Inventory Balance, and Transaction. Oracle recommends using Smart Count - Default Item Saved Search as the starting template. Review the search criteria because they define which items are included for counting. This guide assumes the search already exists and its criteria have been checked.
In the example account, there is a default inventory count account, so the configuration’s Account field can stay blank. If yours does not, choose the account used to post count variances before saving.
01. Name the configuration
On the new Count Configuration form, enter West Weekly Count in Name. Leave Account blank only because the default inventory count account is already set. Description is optional and stays blank in this example.
02. Link the search and enter a count reason
In Saved Search for Item List, select Weekly Components. Enter Weekly component review in Count Reason. For this example, leave Inactive and One-time Count clear. Selecting the search creates the configuration’s link to it; it does not edit the search criteria.
03. Choose count options and location
For this example, check Count Bins With Zero Quantity, then select West Warehouse in Location. This option can include bins with zero quantity of an item on the task list. This walkthrough shows the stored setting; it does not establish which items or bins a generated task list will contain.
Select one or more intended locations deliberately. Leaving Location blank makes the configuration apply to all locations.
04. Save and check the record
Click Save. The saved record appears with Edit and Back actions in this example. Confirm the configuration name before checking its settings.
Check that Saved Search for Item List still shows Weekly Components and Count Reason shows Weekly component review. Inactive and One-time Count should both remain clear.
Finally, confirm West Warehouse and the checked Count Bins With Zero Quantity option. These saved fields are the result demonstrated here. Saving the configuration does not demonstrate task generation, mobile access, or which items and bins will appear. Verify those separately before counting.
Common questions
What kind of saved search can I use?
Use a public Item, Inventory Balance, or Transaction saved search. Confirm that it is accessible to your role and that its criteria return the items you intend to count. This walkthrough uses an existing search; it does not build or repair one.
When is Account required?
Choose an account when no default inventory count account is configured in accounting preferences. The example leaves Account blank because that default already exists.
Can I select more than one location?
Yes. The Location field accepts one or more locations. If you leave it blank, the configuration applies to all locations.
What does Count Bins With Zero Quantity do?
It can include bins with zero quantity of an item on the task list. The saved checkbox confirms the setting only; verify the resulting item and bin scope separately in your account.
Does this walkthrough verify count-task generation?
No. It verifies that the configuration saves with the selected search and settings. Task generation and mobile results are outside this walkthrough.
