The quick answer
On the SCM Mobile device, open WMS, pick the warehouse, and go to Picking > Quick Ship. Choose Sales Order, then Select SO From List, and tap the packed order. Tap its carton, type or scan the tracking number your carrier gave you, and choose Enter Tracking #. In this example, order SO-61804 with carton CTN-30417 ships with tracking number TRK-4408129376, and Quick Ship Complete confirms it. Quick Ship records a tracking number you already have. It does not buy a label or pick a carrier rate.
The screenshots show sample data. Person and operating-company names are fictional. Use your own records and values when following the steps.
Before you start
The order has to be picked and packed first. Quick Ship does not finish an unfinished pick or pack, so an order only shows up once it has closed cartons ready to ship at the warehouse you chose. The order's shipping method also has to map to a carrier service level with Allow Quick Ship turned on. A shipping item that is tied to a carrier integration can reject the tracking number even when everything else is right. In one test account, a UPS-integrated item stopped the step with a message that no UPS registration was found for the location. That is a setup issue in that account, not a rule that Quick Ship needs UPS.
The user also needs access to the SCM Mobile app, the Quick Ship process, the warehouse, and the fulfillment permissions your account requires. Exact role names and permissions vary. This guide covers one carton on one sales order. Select Order Type also offers Transfer Order, and Enter Order has a Select Pallet From List button, but the walkthrough does not use either.
01. Open Quick Ship
Select WMS on the SCM Mobile Select Application page and choose the warehouse, Fairview Depot here. If your user has only one warehouse, that page may not appear. Open Picking. The menu lists Single Order Picking, Multi - Order Picking, Quick Ship, Reverse Picks, and Main Menu. Choose Quick Ship, then choose Sales Order on Select Order Type.
02. Select the packed order
Enter Order has a scan field labeled for an order, carton, or pallet number. If you already have the order number, you can scan or type it there instead. This walkthrough uses the list: choose Select SO From List. Select Order or Carton lists the sales orders that are fully picked and packed, with a Cartons column showing how many cartons each has. Find SO-61804 for Calder Hydraulics Ltd, which shows 1, and select it.
If the order you expect is missing, check the warehouse you selected, whether the order is fully picked and packed, and whether it already shipped.
03. Select the carton
Enter Carton lists the cartons for that order with their weights. SO-61804 has one, CTN-30417, at 12.6. The weight is recorded when the carton is packed, so it is not a fresh reading. Select CTN-30417. You can also scan or type the carton number.
An order with several cartons needs one tracking number per carton. After you submit one, the app returns to carton selection until no cartons remain.
04. Enter the tracking number
Enter Tracking Number repeats the Order Number and Carton Number so you can check them before you submit. Type or scan the carrier's number in Scan/Enter Tracking Number, here TRK-4408129376, and choose Enter Tracking #. Quick Ship records the number you give it. A typo ships the carton with the wrong number, so read it once before you submit. Carrier validation rules in your account can still reject a submission.
05. Confirm the shipment
In the example account, Quick Ship Complete reads SO-61804 with carton(s) CTN-30417 shipped successfully. Compare the order and carton in the message with what you just submitted. Next Shipment takes you back to start the next order, and Main Menu leaves Quick Ship.
On the NetSuite side, the tracking number is saved on the carton's WMS Ship Manifest and the related item fulfillment is marked Shipped. Open the item fulfillment to confirm its status and tracking number. If it does not show yet, give the processing a moment before you treat it as a failure. Then check the sales order's fulfillment status. Quick Ship does not itself create an invoice. Invoicing follows your account's separate billing process and settings.
Check the result
- The message names the order and carton you submitted.
- The item fulfillment for that order is Shipped and carries the tracking number once processing finishes.
- If the order had more cartons, each one has its own tracking number before you treat the order as shipped.
Common questions
Does Quick Ship buy a label or choose a carrier rate?
No. It records the tracking number you enter for a carton that is already packed. It is not the rate shopping and label purchase workflow, although a carrier integration in your account can still validate the shipping setup.
Why is my order missing from the Quick Ship list?
Check that you selected the right warehouse, the order is completely picked and packed with an eligible closed carton, it has not already shipped, and its shipping method maps to a carrier service level with Allow Quick Ship on.
Why does Quick Ship say no UPS registration was found for the location?
The shipping setup tied to the order is a carrier integration that has no registered account for the selected location. Check the carrier registration for the location and the order's shipping method and carrier service level. The exact fix depends on your account.
What if the order has more than one carton?
Each carton needs its own tracking number. After you submit one, Quick Ship returns to carton selection until no cartons remain.
Can I scan instead of using the list?
Yes. The scan field on Enter Order is labeled for an order, carton, or pallet number, so you can scan or type one instead of using the list. A Select Pallet From List button sits next to Select SO From List. Pallet use depends on your packing setup.
Does Quick Ship bill the customer?
Not by itself. It records the shipment and updates the fulfillment. Invoicing is a separate process controlled by your billing setup.
